Daily Driver
The, "Daily Driver" arguement once again. It comes down to what is your criteria for a daily driver. Some (especially Subaru folks) will have you convinced that the Evo is less practical than having a hayabusa in the himalayas.
What do you do for your "daily" duties and commute?
Do you need to haul lots of large cargo, heavy equipment, dogs and bikes?
Do you drive 100 miles daily in stop/go traffic?
For me, the STI hatch was the more logical decision for daily practicality, but once I drove the Evo 10, there was no question which I wanted. The Evo connected on all the intagibles, of which the STI simply did not.

Sorry, but there is a difference between a gf and wife. When you are married, you have to compromise, a lot in fact if you want to stay married. When a budget is stretched thin, then you try and work out the best deal for you. Back in 2002, I wanted a Mustang GT with a 5 speed, but my wife wanted something nicer. I ended up getting a G35 sedan. The funny thing is that it was just as fast as a Mustang GT. The only downside was that I had to get an automatic because my wife cannot drive a manual transmission. Nice car but not really what I wanted. In the end, it may sound grand to tell your gf you are going to buy what you want, but just remember that you can dump her anytime while a wife is hopefully somebody you will stay with the rest of your life. No charge btw for this nugget of wisdom.
My wife has a love hate relationship about the Evo. She loves to brag about it to all the guys that she works with and to be seen in it at meets and ****. But then she doesn't really like the seats and hates when it accelerates and "leaves her stomache way back there". Overall get your car for you, I love every second driving my Evo, so its the perfect daily driver. Let her get a car that is practical to her needs of confrotable seats and what not.
My wife (been together for 7 yrs, married for 2) has been driving manual for the past 12 years so that was never an issue. I agree that there is a difference between and wife and a gf. Even though I'm married, "I" drive the Evo and she drives her Scion. That doesn't mean she can't take the Evo out if she wants/needs to but I'm the primary driver. When she wanted to get her car, I didn't say "No, we need this or we need that". In terms of being pratical, the Evo was a good choice. Not only did I want one since they came out, it was also a 4-door so if/when we have kids, you can still put a car seat in the back. Also, when we go out with friends/family, I drive 95% of the time. I think she puts about 5K miles/year on her car (lol). So, if we decide to have a fam and the Evo is not good for the family, we would be more likely to trader her car in for a Prius or SUV (that's what she wants) because she would then drive that car and when we went out as a family, we would now take that car instead of the Evo. There are definately ways to work things out. In my situation, she loves to travel, loves to shop, etc. I don't spend money on anything. Give me a few beers, friends, and Medal of Honor game and I'm set. So when it was time to get a fun car for "me", I wasn't going to back down because I don't ask for much, but when I do, I think its only fair to accommodate my request. lol

Ha Ha ha. I'm only 5'8 and can't see SH*T in that car. I may have to try that booster seat idea.
