Does the rear wind diffuser fade?

I've noticed the right side of my rear wind diffuser is fading compared to the left. I can't tell 100% if it is fading or maybe if it is a wax type material on it. I had body work done recently on that side of the car. It looks faded to me. But I'm wondering if maybe there is just a layer of wax on it. Or is it normal for it to start fading from sun exposure?

This is the left side

I doubt it's fading, and it's a 2012 model. It might be some kind of dust or some kind of chemical that sank into the plastic. Did you try using alcohol or something?

I think it's wax residue. Try to take it off with some kind of cleaning solution. I had the same problem on mine.

That looks very similar to what happened on my polyurethane black front lip. I used a buffing compund on it, and it took off some of the top colored layer. Looks kinda faded, just like in those pics. Material was unpainted black plastic.

Take a nylon brush and spray on some detailing spray. Scrub back and forth and wipe off. You could also use some diluted alcohol on the diffuser. Then, use either Back to Black by Mother's or Black Wow. This happens from wax residue. Not a big deal. I have fixed this many times on cars that I have detailed.

I swear this body shop...

I'm going to take it to them this afternoon. I think its wax because they use a spray wax. But it might be over spray from when they put on the clear coat in that area.

Either way I am going to take it to them this afternoon and make them take it off. If they take it off and use some chemical that makes it fad or screws it up then they will replace it with a new one.

at this point, if they screwed up with excessive spray wax, why would you take it back? just do it yourself and do it right.

easy and cheap way that just about everyone has is peanutbutter, creamy. sounds weird but it works. you rub it in with soft brush, wash off when you wash rest of car, the use like back to black, vrt or any plastic restore or protectant.

Because if it was their fault then they should fix it. Also, like he said, if they mess it up more he has grounds to get a new one that they pay for. If he does it himself and it doesn't work then the shop has plausible deniablility saying that he did it himself when he tried to fix it.

The regular spray bottle and a rag, comes right off and makes it shine, probably works just like the other stuff posted.
