Safeguard thingy???

Hey guys my X was stolen 2 weeks ago and we still waiting to hear if it is total or not. I know some of the newer cars have a safeguard type mechanism on the vehicle if the car gets to a certain oil level it will shut off so the engine doesn't seize. We already know once the car got to the dealer it had no oil at all in the engine. Just wondering does the 08 X have the type of system. To be honest I am hoping it is not cause I really don't want the car back from the stories I heard how he drove it (we know who took it).

Even older cars have that. My 1992 Ford Tempo shut off when the oil drained out.

Evo x has no such feature. One member had a problem with his 08 MR with either they forgot to add oil or it all burnt off at auto x and there was no low oil light or any codes. The only thing that happened was the engine popping.

From his other post the guy stole a safe that was in his basement that had the other fast key. From there it was pretty straight forward.

Just find every little quirk and scratch and every minor issue and demand that it be counted against the value of the car. You need in 2/3 of the car value roughly for it to be totaled. It's just a math problem for the insurance company, don't let them push you around. Are you pressing charges against the guy whom stole it?

He was actually a pretty good mechanic but he was a meth head and would just make stupid mistakes at times. He changed the oil also and didn't put the oil plug on all the way or used the wrong one, I don't remember.

Anyways I was driving and the car engine shut off. I pulled over and the car wouldn't even attempt to turn over. I called up my uncle and yelled at him because of his stupid mechanic. We saw the oil everywhere. We replaced the oil plug and filled it up, The car then started up just fine and didn't miss a step. If it seized up it un-seized itself with some oil.

Also had a blow out on the highway with the car. It caused the fuel to turn off. There was a reset switch in the trunk. Clicked it and the car was good to go.

Given the logic in play of "Drive it like you stole it" and "the Evo is a rally car"

...Imma gonna guess oil pan got to meet a bump in the road at insane speeds and broke

Yea charges are gonna be pressed but cops say its just all hear say. When we have him on film and recording admitting it. Admitted it to his mother and an uncle that can put him another person house with my car but cops say its just hear say..... But yea I am looking over everything, I babied my car and the only problem with it was one of the side skirt clips was broke so it hung off the car maybe a couple cm's but I didn't find it justice to spend a couple hundred to fix it at the time.

He drove on it a good while without oil

Started when he got back on the road for about 400 yards up the road to a kids driveway then you can tell he backed out and went back down the same way with another oil line about 700 yards long. about 6 inches wide and very dark.

Pretty much went off the side of the road. Hit a rock sticking out took a chunk out of my wheel then hit a 4x4 ditch and ran over some metal deflectors that outlined the ditch(which I am assuming these sliced the oil pan) then oil up and back down where he was going. And yea he admitted he was driving it fast. Oh also HE BARELY/DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE STICK!!!

Sometimes my abilities of deduction scare me.

That's because apparently the Evo's do not have the safeguard thingy. Pretty lame. Like I said, I'm pretty sure my 1992 For Tempo had what you are asking about because when I lost the oil that car shut down. After replacing the oil plug and filling it up it was good to go.

Yeah I would try to find a lawyer and sue the crap out of him! Teach him never to steal and pay for what he has done! It makes my blood boil just thinking about it >
