I know of Invidia they did some custom exhausts for the 370z that were decent, but now that you mention it they were not the best. Can you recommend a good dual exhaust offering, just a cat-back system for now? Is ETS good? I assume Cobb is good too but they're a little expensive.

I've been looking extensively having just bought a '10 MR. How loud are you comfortable going?

From doing my research:

Loud: AMS, ETS Extreme, HKS
Medium: AQ, Cobb, ETS Quiet, Indivia Q300
Quiet: Perrin, ETS Cross-flow

I could definitely be off a bit as I'm going on Youtube clips and sound quality can be a factor. I ended up really liking the Cobb and just searched for a used one.

Well right now my 370z is LOUD as hell with the HFC/catback system I have on it and it sounds amazing. Loud is fine, but then again these are 4-cylinder engines so louder isn't exactly a good thing. I'll stick to medium, and search for a used Cobb or ETS or something. Thanks!

Check out the Greddy Spectrum Elite. Has a nice tone and not loud at all. I'll be getting this in a year or so.

A good tuner and tune are the most important on the MR. Once you reach certain power levels the clutches will slip. You need a tuner that's familiar with tuning the SST for driveability and putting the power down.

I bought a 2012 MR about a month ago and have 3 mods so far: UICP, 3-Port boost controller, and CP-e high flow cat. Everything else is stock.

Stock I got 240hp/250tq with virtual dyno.
After the parts and a custom tune by myself I'm at 315hp/300tq.

If you ever decide to track your car (road course) you should think about additional SST cooling. At the very least I would do a SST fluid flush and the fog light delete before the track day.

My advice. Talk to prospective tuners who are very successful with this platform, English, CBRD, Cobb, AMS, etc. Discuss your goals and budget. Different shops and different tuners with extensive knowledge on these cars know what combination of parts work. Do it right the first time. Leave the guess work in the forums, and bank on the experts' experience.

least track preparation for MR that i think..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SST cooler
fog light delete
decent brake pad ( carbotech recommend )
brake fluid upgrade
brake line upgrade

minimal gauges ( oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, boost, afr )
fuel reserve tank ( if you have hard left turn )

good to have
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
extra oil cooler ( or bigger oil cooler )
radiator
hood / hood scoop ( for cooling )

i don't know how hot out there, but here in socal has really hot summer, so those cooling mods are must have to run in summer. lol

cooling mod will be more impotant if you get tune ( more boost more heat )
: )

I should probably re-word my topic. I wasn't looking to upgrade the car to track it. I'm trying to plan out an upgrade PATH for more power. The car will rarely be tracked since it will be my DD until I get another considerable raise. :P

I've been told to get a Cobb AP and an OTS tune for now and save for a Turbo-back exhaust. Then pro-tune it after the TBE is installed. That should good? Hell, if I can find a good used TBE or cat-back(like Cobb) + AMS downpipe and just get a pro-tune that would probably be better right?

Thanks again for everyone for chiming in, good info for both DD and track based MR's.

Just get the car first. Drive it a while, get used to It, then buy parts.

I would get it pro-tuned, even without any bolt-ons except perhaps DIF, ASAP. If you do just drive it around for a bit make sure you do so in Sport mode as the car is completely underwhelming in Normal mode (IMHO).

I've had my 2012 gsr for 2 months now. Im going to go with the ETS intake and their turboback exhaust. Then I have to find a good tuner up here in BC... lol

Drop in filter. On the 2008 it helps lean out the car a bit (or more accurately helps reduce the overly rich tune). Might not be necessary on later cars.

2) I don't want to go to cheap on parts, you get what you pay for you know. Probably something with a decent price(mid-range)
3) Doesn't have to all be the same brand but obviously that would make it easier to purchase them all.

I'm looking at all the stuff you said, trying to find the best deals on them. Thanks again!
I'm pretty happy with my ETS Quiet set up on my 2012 MR. Only thing that I have noticed is that it is louder in the car than it is outside the car.

I'm with everyone else, exhaust + tune = win.
