2011 EVO X - dual maps for e85 possible?
As far as I know, it’s the tuner not the car that determines a second map for the X. (unless something changed with 2011+, but I highly doubt it.)
When I had my car tuned in CA, I had an option for a second map, but I didn’t do it at the time. Now I’m in NM and I talked to one shop about adding a second map, but they said they don’t do dual maps on the X.
So in my experience, it’s the tuner not the car. Having said that, my X is a 2010.
Off topic... the reason I didn’t do the e-85 second map at the time was because of the lengthy process of it. Basically, the shop was going to put a “base map” for e-85 on my car. Then I was supposed to granny shift through 4 full tanks of e-85, then get the dyno tune. The reason for this was to get rid of all the mix of pump gas and e-85. I didn’t do it because at the time my car was new and there was no way I was going to granny shift for 1+ months before a real dyno tune for my second map.

So this will pretty much work like a tatrix cable right ? I have to reflash it everytime I want to go from pump gas to e85. Kinda wanted a swtich to flip lol. But if thats the only way then I guess so ! Thanks for the feed back

If Sean @ FFTEC was the person you went to in CA he did mention that only some 2010s are available for dual maps with stock ECU.. yours might have been part of that " SOME " lol

I have an opensource tune with a tuner that I really like. My tuner doesn't care for the AP software, especially since opensource is an option for the Evo.
We tried, the 2011 doesn't seem to support multiple maps because the xml definition for the memory space to store the map is different (I think I am remembering what he said a couple months back when we tried).
My tuner suggested I ask Tephra, but his inbox is always full.
However, I can confirm 2010 is different than 2011+, and when we tried to flash over the 2010 we had problems because the available memory space in the ECU appears to be in a different location.

I would imagine you have a laptop right? A tactrix cable? Having had an ap and going to opensource I would say it would be much cheaper to either buy the cable and just flash the tunes, thats essentially what the ap is doing but the laptop is the ap, which its actually cheaper to buy a laptop... Buy a cheap laptop/etc throw it in the trunk when u go or whatever. I have a 2010 so I'm hoping down the road I can do multi-map which golden never said wasnt possible.
it works on a 2010 with no problems. My tuner said he has done it with every year, except 11+.
I don't want to carry a laptop in the car though, having the on the fly map switching with the Tephra mod is one of the factors that drove me to buy the car

I just confirmed this is possible with the 2011, as a friend has this done. His car was tuned by Golden (same as me). Apparently some rom work has to be done in order to do this. But I know it can be done for certain.
Btw you might get better results with this in the tuning department.

I didn't know some can and some can't dual map. I was guessing all of them can. Interesting...Sean really did a fine job on my tune. I almost had it re-tuned in NM for the high altitude. The shop I went to asked me a bunch of questions on how it was performing. In the end he told me not to re-tune it since I had an excellent running car. I runs well at sea level and 7,000+ feet in altitude.

On 2011+ u can do the dual map but if u don't have a cobb ap u need to stop by ur tuner and switch the map everytime u want to use E85 or 91.. no cruise controll switch yet.. I'm still waiting for that mode..
