Evo X Ergonomics

I think we can all agree that the Evo is a bit lacking in the ergonomics department.

This has been a pet peeve of mine ever since I first sat in one. You know how it goes: if your arms are comfortable, your feet aren't. Vice versa, if your legs are comfortable, your arms are not.

There has been two solutions that I've found over the past few years

1) Modify your steering wheel shaft with an extension for $$$$ (this can't be done by your average Joe the fabricator)

OR

2) Purchase the ~$300 HKS Kansai seat rails

Modifying the steering wheel shaft is out of the question for me. I remember a member on evom spending over a thousand dollars to have his steering shaft extended, while still preserving the collapsing-shaft feature.

Then, there's the seat rails. I don't want the lower seat rails, cause I think the stock height is great. The "Best Position" seat rail is questionable.. it's supposed to raise the BACK of the seat up by 15mm, which doesn't solve the unsupported back-of-knee problem.

The IDEAL solution would be to raise the front part of the seat by 25-50mm, but I have yet to see a company come out with a product that does it.

Ideas? Comments?

BTW, I'm 5' 9" with shorter-than-average legs.

I don't fall into this category. My X is very comfortable for me. I even drove 1,200 miles in two days last year and I had no comfort issues.

I'm about 3" taller and same my upper body is longer than my legs, but I find my legs feel really unsupported. Usually getting back of the seat down helps me, but I suppose front going up a little would work the same

Can you rest your wrists over the top of the steering wheel? At the same time, are the back of your knees supported?

Yea, we can all just suck it up. Hell, I've sucked it up on four 22 hour road trips going from Texas to California.

I guess I've been spoiled coming from a Volkswagen..

Where I feel strain is the inside of my legs around my knees

It's fine for me...even after 1,000 mile roadtrip in one day. If you want the front of the seat raised get a steel spacer and a longer automotive grade bolt.

I'm actually very comfy in my evo. I'm 5'6" with a couple extra pounds around the mid section. I would say I'm well proportioned I don't have long legs or anything crazy going on.

I'm 5'8" and I have to have the seat angled almost upright to be able to rest my wrists on top of the steering wheel and not bang my knees on the steering column. Basically I look like a granny driving.

Exact same here. But it is more comfortable than my old BMW 3 series with either the regular OR sport seats.
