Short shifter or stick to the stock?

Thinking of getting some short shifter. But are there any disadvantages? Would sticking to the stock be a good idea or is there a big difference from the stock and the short throw?

Love the WORKS, it would take a lot to pry it out of my hand.

Get a Works...You'll love it man. I hated the stock shifter & I'm sure many will agree with me.

Once I switch to the works I asked myself why did I not do this when I first got the Evo.

The works shifter is an awesome piece. If on a budget the shifter bushing are great as well.

ive owned two evo x's now and my first one i threw the works ss and console bushings.. it was great, but also pricey. in my current evo, i now have the torque solutions ss and console bushings and its just as great if not better. shifting is crisp and precise and youll wonder why a $35+ car didnt come standard with it hhaha.. works is a little pricey though which is the reason i opted for the torque solutions instead, especially after getting an awesome deal from maperformance which inlcuded the ss, console bushings, underhood bushings, and gate selector.

I've considered getting the Works short shifter, especially after the great reviews. I'm happy with the stock shifter though, I guess at least until it gets cold again and notchy....

Yeah I've actually seen this on MAP haha. I've considered it but I'm not that interested in shortening the length of the throws because I'm happy with that. I do want to get rid of the notchiness, but I'm not too comfortable with running the Redline cocktail. I already have a weighted shift knob as well.

I will say this.. no matter which company you go to ..

You will be happy into switching to a short throw
no drawbacks that I know off.

just make sure you do the base bushings as a minimum when doing a shifter change.

OK, so get all the bushings then. Why are you not comfortable with Redline transmission fluids? I've had them in my X for over 46k miles already, used them in my IX, my S2000, my ex-wife's WRX, and my DSM's.

There's definitely a big difference between a stock shifter and a short throw. We have tons of products for your Evo X's shifter
