Test Drive Question

I am about to pull the trigger on a white 13 GSR! I went to go test drive one yesterday, and i was definitely impressed. I drove the car about 4 miles, i didnt shift about 4000 rpms. When i got back to the dealership i turned the car off and popped the hood to look at the engine. The turbo had a little bit of smoke coming off it. I asked the salesman why it was doing that and he said it was because it was new. Can you guys please tell me if the car had a problem.

How many miles on the car? It was probably just fuming mad for your short shifting.

It's normal. You may even see some smoke from the air vents too sometimes when you shut the car off.

its normal , all brand new turbo's do that .. its burning up all the lube they use to assemble it...

it will be about a good 100 miles to clean it out..

All new turbo cars , including swaps to a new turbo ... smoke a little

I think all that is normal. Paints and whatever else they use in the manufacturing process. Mine stank the garage up for a month or so with whatever was burning off. Well my girlfriend at the time said "stank" I think it smelled good.

Additionally it has a weird smell to it as well. From what I remember, it usually goes away within the first hundred miles.
