Nothing much to do but give your self distance from other cars. Otherwise enjoy a stiff left leg for the next couple of minutes or hours Or get dd for a boring drive to work.

This is just me and how I drive my car but maybe it will help you. Just like everyone is saying here is get a feel for it. One thing that might help is always stay on the right gear and always read the traffic ahead of you so you can prepare the right gear to be in. Give yourself some distance from the car in front of you and sllowly and steady move forward - just look at those big semi truck but not too far from the guy in front of you as those automatic drivers will butt in front of you. When stopped in an uphill let the car in front of you drive a little further before going in first gear and please dont ride your clutch. I think the jerkiness youre saying is when you need to downshift because the car in front of you is slowing down and your car is begging you to downshift. I do understand what what youre saying about the jerkiness but thats also because our evo is like a thoroughbred horse wanting to be driven hard. One last thing is practice patience in traffic and you will suddenly notice the stupidity of the drivers around you - in traffic that is

I can already spot stupid drivers lol. As for the jerkiness thing its when I am in 1st gear going less than 5mph but like people say it needs some clutch. As for riding my clutch yea I do that on an uphill lol or I use ebrake sometimes.

Probably the best car to learn on would be a Honda Civic Si. My 2007 Si was the epitome of smoothness. The clutch and shifter were magic. The Evo X is trickier upon takeoff from a light or a launch. I still have not mastered a good launch while with the Si, it was intuitive. Still, I find the Evo easy to drive in traffic as the pressure plate is light and will not kill your left calf muscle.

whenever i get stuck in traffic like on the bridge going to manhattan i tend to leave alot of space between me and the car in front of me. So when i go its not an on and off the clutch thing.

Sitting there and having the people behind you honk as the car moves up 5 feet in front of you and you don't even move is quite the funny experience. I've had people start yelling out there windows "MOVE UP!!", i stick my hand out as a sort of gesture of calm down and move along when i want to. When there's two lanes and traffic isn't moving anywhere there's no reason to be up the *** of the car in front of you.

To add to the fun, when the car behind you gets so pissed they move over and think there gonna cut in front of you, then you speed up and stay close to the car in front. Just to see their reaction and impatience is priceless

You can't do anything about it. Just play with the gas and clutch pedal and get used to. Just read the traffic ahead and try to be in the right gear and not stay to close in front off you so that you dont have to shift gears.

Wish I could upvote this or something. lol. I hate it when my friends in automatics keep inching up. Why don't they just wait a few feet and THEN move?!?!

You KNOW the person in front of you is just going to stop AGAIN ANYWAY!!
