So recently I've been noticing when accelerating in any gear, but 1st, my car feels like it has dead zones. The engine continues to rev but doesn't pull between 3000 and 4000 RPM, for example. It almost feels like an automatic shifting into passing gear after pushing the accelerator, keep in mind mine is a GSR so it's stick. I would think if it was the clutch it would be consistent, so I'm leaning towards a boost leak but has anyone experienced this before? Oh and my FPR hose is attached so its not that.

Still could be the clutch. The harder you accelerate the better chances it willl slip. It could also be grabbing while the car is cold but as it starts heating up, starts slipping. My vote is warped or worn clutch. How many miles do you have on it and is it still stock?

 

It's all stock, 70K miles.

 

Clutch - The intermittent slipping seems consistent with a worn clutch that doesn't always engage. The only other thing I might check is to bleed the clutch line itself. It shares brake fluid with the rest of the brake system and, over time, that fluid can get pretty bad if not bled out. It does not get flushed when your brakes are bled. Try that first, bleed your clutch line, it's pretty easy to do, and see if it is very dark fluid. It might help. If not, clutch.

If the tach jumps... and your speedo doesn't... bye bye clutch.

 

Good way to test the clutch is to floor the gas in fifth gear if rpm jumps but the car doesn't accelerate it means clutch is slipping.

So I'm thinking the exedy stage 1 organic will be a good replacement then? I don't have the budget for the twin plate. It's a daily driver and will only ever see basic bolt ons and a tune at best. Thanks for the advice everybody, I can even smell it now do you were exactly right on the clutch.

 

If only light mods the Exedy stage 1 will be perfect for you.

 

same problem here, Im also upgrading my clutch. Also removing the clutch pill when I get it, heard a few people that remove the pill that should prob give me some extra clutch life too.

 

Time for a new clutch

 

Just make sure to change the cmc if your planning to go with a clutch other than oem
