Pretty rare to see a 2010 failure, especially on the stock clutch. Are you sure that's your problem?

I think some early 2010 EVOs may be affected. I bought my 2010 in November 2009, and in June 2010 with little mileage and stock everything, the master died without warning- 1 corner from my home, that made it OK.Originally Posted by Kracka

It happens.
my evo was built in june of 2010. mc let go about 3 miles from home. could have been worse for sure.
apparently. the oem clutch master cylinder is made of plastic. the kit i bought is basically an adapter to use the evo 9 aluminum cmc.

That is better, why would Mitsubishi be so cheap? Well their metal sucks we all know that! I would imagine the plastic used may swell letting the rubber cups inside push fluid around the bore? Who knows the real issue Ia m just trying to make sense of it. Originally Posted by evotap

Good job ordering a better one. Honestly when you get your old one off you should take it apart with pictures and measure a few things?
i may, but i'll probably just slam it in the garbage Originally Posted by EVOEvolved

I love knowing why things do, and do not work

More or less frequent, especially on cars with upgraded clutches.
I can't help but ask again--why are the 2010's so special? I thought Mitsu never changed their CMC designs?

Each year they have become more reinforced. They're still made of plastic, but it's only the 2008's with somewhat high failure rates.Originally Posted by RAI
