Is the cobb ap worth it?

So I'm thinking about picking up the cobb ap for my evo this weekend.. I had a few questions and wanted to get some advice on here before I buy it. Will I be able to tune my car with the ap if I have the following.. Ets intake, tbe, uicp, 3 port, and test pipe? Honestly I don't know much about the ap and if it would be able to tune all that or not and if it will be able to tune my parts in the future. I do plan to get a pro tune on a dynojet at jms here in Texas. All advice and help would be great. Thank you!

The AP is worth every penny, even better when you don't have a really good tuner around. If you look on the Cobb website it will tell you all the info your looking for. You will always make much more power with a pro tune though

I say they are worth it. Especially if you buy one used. Being able to log with that little unit is great. If they had a way rto log afr with it, that would be killer.

I have an opensource tune, but I've had an AP in the past. They really are great. Best suggestion is to check with the tuner you plan to use first. Some prefer Cobb's software for tuning, others prefer OpenSource options. It would suck to buy one then find out your tuner is going to use an OpenSource method and have it be a boxed ornament.

yeah I checked with them and they said they can use it to tune with my car, and I might be buying it for $300.. I just don't understand the maps since it doesn't have any for ets intake, tbe, uicp, etc..

You will be able to tune for the TBE(aka stage 2) tune. As far as the UICP and intake, the stage 2 stock box tune would be your best bet because of the fact that you don't change the MAF housing with the ETS intake. I am running the stage 2 stock box beta right now and it works fine with my car. You will just need to do the knock test on your car and watch your AFR.

I would say the 3port will be your only potential problem with the off the shelf tunes. They have some for the Cobb 3port, I'd say try that one but log really carefully to make sure it's ok.

The OTS tunes don't target high enough boost to really get the best use of a 3port. Besides they are saying they want to go with a protune and an AP. A protune can add the 3port no-problem.

I love mine. Only regret is buying it new. Could have saved a couple hundred bucks with craigslist
