Bad Evo X Crash Footage.
And this my friends is why canyon running is off my list in my street car. Cages save lives. Glad he's ok, very fortunate young man.
On that note, when I was doing lap battle and scca winter cross sessions no one told us not to get out of our cars to help drivers in danger or in accidents. Why did no one stop to see if he was ok? Just seemed weird from the camera's perspective.

It seemed to me... he was gaining on the car in front coming into turn 9. Big sweeper and driver was on the 'correct line' but he just gracefully excurded the track. I am very glad he is okay!
Correct. You NEVER stop and get out of your car on the track. Ever. And, if you are involved in an incident, unless you are on fire, you stay in your car. Trust me, you want to (and some do it), if nothing else to validate to yourself you are ok but, if your car happens to be on track you are going to make things worse.
Corner workers radio it in, flag the track, bring in the cars and send out the wrecker and ambulance. When they tell you, you get out.
Aftermath of the X. Glad he walked away. The videos mention a sudden driver side front blowout causing him to leave the track.

For those of you who do race at events like this, what do you do with your hands on impact? Holding onto the steering wheel seems like a bad idea, as you can even see how the steering wheel gets demolished in this video.
From what I understand you should grab your harness straps (right hand grabbing left strap, left grabbing right) so your arms are not flying around. If they are flying around they could get out of the car and possibly rip it right off. So be safe on the track everyone.
