Received my ETS 4" IC, but...

Just received my ETS 4" IC today. When I inspected the condition of the box, it has two marks as if the box was dropped

Should I be concerned?

Overall, this IC is a very very high quality piece and solid. I would recommend it to others.

as long as the pipe isnt cracked I wouldnt worry about it at all. something that minor wont affect a thing.

just make sure you get any crap out of the core and you'll be good to go.

Wow, your description is very specific and thorough...

So, bottom line. Your new intake appears to have been damaged slightly in shipping, right?

- While the damage appears minimal I presume you paid for an item that was expected to be perfect upon arrival. I further expect the shipper insured the item.
- Uhhh, these IC pipes are sort of important and do important things. Get the shipping materials out of the tubing, get it all out. Bio degradable or not, the bits don't belong.
- Call ETS, I suspect they are a good company and will be abetter source of information on appropriate next steps than (even) this forum.

The slight bend is really nothing to worry about. It won'y change anything performance wise..

Just make sure to get all the packing material out of the IC and you will be fine..

There is nothing wrong with contacting ETS about it. They're a great bunch of guys and will take care of you. But I wouldn't worry too much about this, you should be fine.

Run gas through it. A few times it will clean it out and resolve the foam inside.

Although the damage is very very slight, I don't see why shipping insurance wouldn't cover it. Contact Michael, he's probably familiar with the process and can make things right

^this. I don't get why people are saying not to worry about it. product was damaged, however light the damage is and should be fixed by the shipper. If I pay for a new product, I expect it to be in brand new shape when I get it.

Yeah, I said it the way I did, because the damage is measurable and easy to see with a picture. So, call Michael, he'll talk to their UPS rep. The rep will credit their account for the product, and Michael will send you a replacement, and you'll send the bent one back to them, and then they can sell it later as a blemished FMIC. It's win-win for ETS and the customer, and UPS is used to this, and they already have a process for doing it.

( I used to work for DHL before they shut down our datacenter here in Phx and stopped doing domestic shipping, I know all about shipping companies. I could still probably troubleshoot UPS's Worldship application, as UPS customers would call us all the time thinking DHL and UPS were the same company )

I personally said dont worry about it because it doesnt seem to matter. its going to amount ti time spent fixing something that will be coveree by a pipe coupler and not affect cosmetics or performance.
pressure test ic..which should be done anyway..

re-bend pipe if necessary. rock on with life.

honestly a lot of people bend their pipes worse than that just tightening t bolt clamps.

that said if the op is really bothered by it im sure ets will take care of it.

The holidays are the worst time for shipping. I swear the UPS guys get sick of handing off packages and just start chucking them across the room. The slight bend is nothing to worry about it and it will not hurt performance.

We can send you another intercooler, but it's not going to change the way the intercooler performs with this minor dent. It will add about another week in transit time back and fourth. Plus waiting for the claim process. The best thing to do is check inside and make sure no peanut material is in the intercooler.

Again, if your not comfortable with running it we can file the claim.

Thanks!

Michael

^ example of why I give props to ETS for their support. Everything he said gives the customer to the power to either get a perfect part, or keep their down-time to a minimum because he knows it won't affect performance.
