There are two types of tuners.

Ones that understand that for any particular car there is ONE correct MIVEC curve, timing curve, fuel trim, and boost plot. And those that want to do whatever it takes to stuff as much ignition timing and boost as possible into the car.

There are also two types of customers......

My car had the same problem (Running rich) for a long time. Took it to English Racing and Aaron fixed it no problem!

Who is your tuner?

Im not worried about the tune one bit. I have the utmost faith in the tuner. Who by the way is Sean Ivey of Ivey tuning.
Hands down,
Ivey tuning is one of the best im very happy with the tune, just saw a lot of smoke when I floored it to redline.
It's more like I'm worried my car is just ****ed up somewhere internally. Or gas that is marked super isn't so super.
Thought only untuned turbos blow smoke like that, is it possible I just have some crappy gas?

I appreciate the info & the input from everyone.
drives perfect saw a ton of smoke i blacked out the caf behind me. plus i just don't want to bug him if others have same issue. I feel kind of dumb saying my car makes black smoke at wot.
My boys mazda3 speed kicks out some heavy smoke.
First time behind following him you would think it was a diesel.

That's what I was looking for idk.
Im used to n/a motors, I'm a noob when it comes to boost.
My last boosted car was a 94 gsx eclipse.
I'm astounded by the power of this motor & I don't have any work done.
Car seems like it just wants to rip.
I'm probably stressing for no reason, but to he on the safe side gonna check for leaks.
Thank you for the input, much appreciated.

All X's blow carbon, no matter how they're tuned. Especially with a test pipe.

My car runs around 11.6 on WOT and still blows a good amount of carbon.

I have several friends cars, one tuned by the same as me, one self-tuned, and another tuned by a different company. All blow carbon.

Same with every X I've seen at the track.

Also my plugs did not look bad at 30k when I changed them.

100% normal. Every X does this, regardless of how it is tuned, does not mean it is rich. Common misconception.

Tsc comp my car is definitely around 11.0 afr. It blows out black same as my x did at wot. Both had no cats. Straight through turbo back. My oil consumption is static. The o2 bung is in my downpipe near the turbo.not at the 2nd o2 sensor.

Also 11.0 is running richer than 11.5 so there should be less fuel being burned at 11.0 than 11.5. Correct? Every evo I've seen with bigger turbo and straight pipe is blowing something out the back at wot. Lol.

Richer=more fuel.

Every Evo X does this regardless of how they're tuned, even a 11.8 afr they blow clouds.

I think that he meant that, at 11.0 instead of 11.5, a lower proportion of the fuel is being burned.
