Boost cut
Boost cut
I was driving around last night messing with my boost gauge when it happened.
I had been seeing boost up to 27psi spikes in lower gears and a avg of 25psi in all gears so I was lightly pessing the gas to keep my boost on 10psi but it would drop so I would press a little more on the gas to bring it back and at 70MPH on the high way trying to hold 10psi the psi went from 10psi to 22vac then back to normal I tried it agen the same thing happend.
I stopped at a gas station and took out the line that I tapped for the t piece and replaced it with a regual BOV hose checked all the clamps and tried it agen but since I had no line to the gauge I could not see any boost cut but I also did not feel it so I am thinking there was a leak in the t piece.
I don't think it was over boosting before the gauge install but with no gauge before it's hard to tell.
I am running the same size rubber hose from the T to the gauge sensor as the stock BOV hose because the little plastic one they gave is too small to go over the nipple on the t fitting and sensor.
I am leaving the T piece off till my tune next month but what do you guy's think?

It's a glowshift elite series boost gauge. I know it is not the gauge because when it cut and droped to vac the power droped also.
But when I get the tune I will have the shop reinstall it and see if it is off a little on the reading.
If I had a leak in the vac line to the BOV would that cause spikes or over boost to make a boost cut?
I see sorry fixed.

Please don't critique my grammar or spelling. I make so many errors these days it's a wonder people can understand me at all. That said...
Before you tune have the shop install the gauge and do a smoke test. They'll find it.
Change your relays, but that's not your issue now.

I am running the blue one right now.
It's not a fuel cut persay but more like the car dumping all the boost out like when you press the clutch but your still driving same rpm and speed.
The rpms did not drop only the boost it felt like when your on boost to get to speed then once your there you back off the gas a little your still gaining a little speed but a that umf from boost is gone.
I was pressing the gas enough to lighty gain speed but still be in boost keeping the boost level steady with the pedal then no boost then the boost come back I was able to do 2 times in a row so it was not a one time thing.
I taped the BOV vac line for the gauge.
Every thing looks ok now after I took off the T and put the stock hose back but I still wounder that is why I am babying the car like crazy.
I leave for Korea in 7 months I will be there 2 years with no warranty and no mitsu dealers I have been able to find and a side not they don't sale EVO in Korea so any that are there are imported so not to many people there that know how to fix them.
So pretty much want to make sure the car is in perfect shape before it's boxed and shipped.

Well at WOT it was spikeing to 27psi then drop suddenly to around 23psi then rise to 25psi and stay for most of the rpm range.
I asked some one about it and they said maby the cobb tune did not fully erase or it did not copy the stock tune right the first time so there is still parts of the tune on it with the stock tune.
Not sure though it's just a guess.
