Hi,

I got tired of the crappy support from the Recaro seat, so I went down to a local auto upholstery shop to have them assess the situation. For $150 I had them open the seat up, add a layer of 1/2" foam to the top of the padding, and 1/2" layer below the padding. The combined makes the seat cushier and far more comfortable.

While in there, I had them pound out the side bolsters just a bit as well. The bolsters are made out of thick steel rod surrounded by a removable shaped foam insert. They used a hammer and smacked the rods out just a tad and now they don't rub my legs nearly as much.

When you look at the seat now, you can hardly tell any more cushioning was added to it. You can definitely tell when you sit on it though.

Very interesting that the side bolsters could be bent. Did you get to watch them do this? Any idea if I could do something similar to the headrest? With a helmet on, I really, really hate these seats.

Great idea. I love the look of the seats but they definitely weren't made with comfort in mind.
