to get to 3200 in an evo 10 you are gonna have to go crazy. Remove bumper beams, cut out the bars in the doors remove rear seats gut the trunk get rid of the heavy stock seats then you are gonna need harness's to be safe and you are gonna need a cage for your harness to even work correctly because id never trust a harness bar. Good luck on making your DD a racecar

+1 on this it will be very difficult to get the X weight down to 8/9 weight while still retaining some daily driving comforts. A friend of mine with a X got a CF hood and weight difference was only 1lb so not worth it. Like others have start with batter junk in the trunk then focus of reducing rotational mass wheels rotors driveshaft etc.. That will make the biggest difference for basic weight reduction. If you don't use/need the rear seats doing a rear seat delete will give you a decent chunk also.. Good luck!

Every little bit counts. Measure the ounces to save the pounds (or some other modified-to-fit-the-current-situation obscure reference). It really does add up over time.

I added weight to my X in the way of sound deadening material

For a DD, the most effective weight reduction you can do is rotational such as wheels, brake rotors, and driveshaft.

I agree, I saw a a dyno graph from a reputable shop before and after, switching to two piece light weight rotors, and RPF1's picked up 14WHP on a back to back pull.

That is considerable amount of rotating mass.

How much does the rear seat actually weigh? Looking at putting a rear roll bar with mounting plates from auto power in. Which means the rear seat would have to come out any way.

Rear seat weighs hardly anything, it's a piece of foam covered in fabric.

Get a nice exhaust setup. I dropped 46lbs from the turbo back with my setup (AMS widemouth, t1r resonated tp and tomei expreme exhaust). Coilovers usally drop about 7lbs per corner. 2piece rotors are 4lbs per corner (rotational mass). Lighter rims, lighter driveshaft. All these parts add up.

when you take the back seat out its no bid deal but the seat belts weigh at least 15 lbs might as well tear out the air bags too where you save weight. i know its not much but thats how weight saving goes a few lbs here and there

Plus it might make it difficult (or impossible) to get your ins to pay the claim if you get hit.

Hmmm, this would be determined by your policy language and it would have to specifically state whether the coverage was void if safety items are removed. There may be state requirements about maintaining safety items which could trigger a clause in your policy regarding keeping the car street "legal" but again, you would need to check.

I'll note, this is not a thread about safety or about insurance or about the law, thank goodness, it's just about how to lose some weight out of the car. And, as the law is so varied from location to location, let's keep on point, no?

You could swap the Recaro's out, they are *heavy*, also ditch the trunk items like the spare, jack, RF sub if you have it. beyond that you could pick up a set of lighter-weight wheels.
+1 for this
Also, in an accident, the insurance company could deny your claim based on removing safety equipment that could have prevented damage.

otherwise

PAGING CHETRICKERMAN? cHET RIcKERMAN TO THE WEIGHT REDUCTION THREAD? THANK YOU.
