I would say if you enjoy reading the forums daily and/or want to start an astronomical amount of threads to try and figure out all the problems you will have.....then buy the car.

The fact that they are taking it back to stock means to me that they are trying to hide how modified the car is or how beat the car was.

Out of curiosity, how does the fact that they told him that the car had been modified fit into your theory that they are trying to hide that the car had been modified?

Probably a flood damaged car.

They're definitely hiding something.

I guess I was meaning to the extent it was modified. Like tune and messing with the computer. If they try and get the ecu and everything back to stock, you'll never really know the extent of how modified it was.

Unless they give him a list of everything they took off and did to bring it back to stock. The OP just said they there taking it back to stock. Never said they were going to let them know what it took to bring it back to stock.

Which OP that isn't a bad idea if you do purchase it. Have them give you a list of what was modified and what they do to bring it back to stock.

All car does, no exception for the X, too.
You just need to be very careful when purchasing second hand car especially for sporty car.

I got a new plan I'm planning on leasing brand new Evo x 2010 or higher for 24 months and while that under the lease I'm gonna save money to buy it off then after 24month is it a good idea to lease the car I wasn't planning on tunning car or doing anything to it until at least 2-3 years

I would have never been able to buy any of my cars on a lease. As soon as I get them I start to modify. Got any issues modifying a leased car?

Sounds a bit too good to be true. Unless you can get it certified I would stick with your current plan on getting a new Evo X or finding a safer choice.

pure3owner,

I think that's a pretty good idea. If you buy a new Evo, you know 100% that it has never been modded/abused. I also think its nice that you are not planning to mod the car (buy or lease) until about 2-3 years after owning it. I currently have a 2010 GSR and won't even THINK about touching the thing until I've either paid it off OR the powertrain warranty runs out. I just don't see how people can take the chance of buying a brand new car, mod it, and run the risk of something going wrong that will cost lots of $$$ to fix. My Evo is bone stock and fun to drive that way. Unless I was looking to track my car frequently or time to time, I don't see why modding is even a big thing. Having more HP means nothing to me if I can't really "use" that power. I'm 34 years old and I will get on it (modded or not) from time to time, but my days of going around looking for cars to race, doing launches from red lights, and all that other stuff are behind me. When you do get your Evo, be sure to post pics. I'm sure we'll all be happy to welcome you to the club.

That depends on the interest rates. The advantage of the lease is lower monthly payments up front but you end up paying more in the long run if you're planning on keeping the car. If you qualify interest rates are so low now that it's better to have a decent down payment and just finance the car if you can handle the higher monthly payments and work on paying it off a little early.

If you have to lease a car to afford it... Then you can't afford it.
