Thanks for all the kind words guys. Another thing that helped me build a pile of parts is that I can't purchase any parts locally and have to get everything shipped in or flown in. So obviously the most cost effective way it to buy is to buy lots of things at once! Or is that just what I keep telling myself? Lol

You could install all of this in a weekend for sure. Down pipe is the toughest. Great mod list minus the fact that there are no suspension upgrades. Might want to consider springs or coils, RCA kit, sway bars, sticky tires, etc. I also have the Tomei cbe and AMS dp. Tomei tp in the mail

I wish I was confident enough to install all this myself! Also as a young 24 year old, I am ashamed to say I down even own a tool kit, besides the standard screw driver set!

Definitely agree with you regarding the suspension upgrades. I'm considering coils & sway bars, I think whiteline sway bars but I have no idea about the coilover's. But I shall get there

You should def get some tools at least for oil changes and things like that. You'll save a ton of money. And when youre knowledgeable about your car, there's a greater chance you won't get ripped/overcharged at stealerships/shops etc. if you're going to track over twice a year, IMO, you'll want coils. If not, some Swifts and an RCA kit, and at least rear sway bar. Have fun man and GL

Thank you very much for the input, I shall definitely take your advice onboard as I plan on going to a few open track days at our local formula one track. Cant wait to get her out there!

I already informed the shop that is going to be working on the car that I want to be there for the whole thing so I can learn and see how its all done. I am already familiar with cars and engines but not confident in working on my car alone.

I have been looking at coilovers and have no idea what to look for. Common theory I have found is that if you cant spend more than $1800 for them then stick springs on the original's? I know the big brand names (bilstein, Ohlins) and dont mind spending money if the consensus is that its worth it. What do you think?

The car will be used as DD, a couple of track days a year and the occasional non competitive auto X.

Thanks every one

If you have money to burn, I nice set of coils will def improve handling and get you around the track faster (Ohlins, KW, bilstein, AMR). If not, then springs, rear sway, RCA kit, and nice tires will do pretty well. I've installed literally every single mod on my Evo and there are great "how to's" on here for everything. All went very well minus down pipe which was a pita. Anyways, keep us updated on your mods. Have fun and congrats

I would defiently say to do the installs on your own. This stuff is very easy to do and you could save 2k easy with just buying a nice 200 dollar Craftsman mechanics tool set.

When I was 15 I got my first car an 08 GTI and I couldn't afford to pay people to install stuff for me but I could afford the parts.

After going through 3 cars the only reason my car enters a shop is for tuning, Tire mounting and alignment.

I'm 20 now and have a really nice savings. I've saved an easy 10k on labor costs.

Gl your going to have a blast when its done.

Yeh I might give some things a go if I can find good a 'How to' (which I am sure I will on this great forum). To be honest though, labor charges are only $30 an hour so not too bad. But I agree, any saving in money is just money to put towards more parts! hmm.... something to consider

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge! Will definitely be looking into some coils to add onto my next stage for the car. I cant imagine the car getting better handling! It already feels like it is on rails haha.

Going to have a good read through the 'how to' section this weekend and if it builds my confidence may get something installed!

Just a quick question, say I do manage to install some of the things myself, would it be ok to drive the car to my tuner?
