Fuel pump relay

I'm sure the title has been used to death in the Evo forums. But I was wondering what color is everyone using for there fuel relay?
I looked on the SSP website and they are selling the updated black. Is that better then the blue? I have not idea anymore. Since I bought the car I've used the green and blue. Is the black a permanent fix or should I be investing in a whole bunch of them?

Thanks

Just got the relay kit from SSP a week or two ago. Black is the correct color. This made it a little confusing on my 2013 since the fuel relay was already black but it is a different part number and it's taller. Even though mine came with the black relays they were still the part #'s that the TSB says to replace.

Before and after. Notice the new black relays are taller than the older style black relays that I didn't replace on the non critical stuff.

So the color to have in your relay box is black this year? This is like the Oscars.

Couldn't find anything appropriate for Blue.

my 2013 is less than a month old. last i checked the fuel relay is still black (you'd figure after 5 years of production they'd get this right). should i assume my fuel relay has potential to fail and needs replacement?

Word on the street and (according to Mitsubishi's wonderful technicians) the relay issue has been corrected for the 2011-present models....but id still replace it just to be safe....I mean after all they did also tell me that the CMC issues were not anything to worry about lol

Yup. The only thing that the original (faulty) black relays have in common with the latest (good) black relays is color. When in doubt, pull it out and give it shake.

Got my 2013 a little over a month ago. It came with the relays that the TSB specifically says to replace. Kinda dumb that they're still shipping cars with parts they then tell their techs to replace. The new part is definitely a different design (much larger).

For $8 it's not worth worrying about, just replace it now.

If it wasn't fuel related I wouldn't care that much. Problem with waiting till it fails the shaker test is that if you happen to go into boost when it's dead you'll run lean. Lean is no bueno for motors, especially in boost. $100 part then yeah, maybe wait a little. $8 part, pretty dumb to wait IMO. Especially for a part that has almost 100% failure rate.

I think just the fuel pump relay. You can get the whole set if you live in cold climate b/c the other relays tend to freeze over.

Yeah the fuel relay is the only real one to worry about. I did the whole package but it turns out big relay isn't needed on a 2013. Oh well, got a spare.

The other relays are for the MFI, starter, injector, and throttle. Not gonna blow the motor if they go, but you would be stuck. Only heard about the fuel pump one being a problem though.

I would no matter what go to the Mitsu dealer and get the updated relay... Better be safe than prematurely blow your engine! The part is cheap too

Do some research, I believe there are two types (green/black). I got mine from eBay and popped right in, less than $15. Although I needed pliers to pull the oil on out, it was on there tight. I'd pay much for for peace of mind.

I would not put a eBay relay in my car. And, if you followed your own advice on research you will know that there are at least (at last count) 4 varieties of fuel pump relays: (1) original black, (2) green, (3) blue and (4) back to black.
