Do stock brake pads make a ton of noise?

Hello forum,

I have a 2012 GSR with 12k miles. Since the car was new the brakes have made a ton of screeching noise as if they need to be replaced. Under hard breaking there is no noise but with light pedal pressure its quite loud. Is this normal for the stock pads? I have assumed its because the car comes with a performance minded compound and can be loud when cold "ish" but I figured I should ask just in case I need to have it checked out.

Thanks for your feedback.

Normal, you can yank the wheels off during rotations and clean the calipers with compressed air or mild cleaner (brake clean tends to be hard on the paint) it'll quiet them down for a bit but as dust builds etc they'll make noise again.

I switched to StopTech pads all the way around cause I couldn't stand the noise. So far no noise unless really really cold or backing out of the garage.

Because racecar (pad)..

Seriously I've heard BMWs, AMGs, Porsches, and even an F430 Scuderia sound horrible under light braking. It's the compound that transmits a lot of noise.

I hate it too because of the looks it gets but I know when I gotta stop it's going to be there.

Mine are getting very bad as well. I was actually thinking of taking it somewhere to get looked at. It started in around 2k miles and currently has 6k. Very embarrassing.

I knew before buying the car that people complained about the brakes squeaking but I didn't realize they would get this loud.

Normal. Its brake dust build up, to help get rid of the noise for a while just run the hose directly on the caliper during washes. You will see a ton of brake dust run out. I noticed significantly less squeaks doing this.

Never had a single problem with my brakes making noise. No noise whatsoever, 12,000 miles on a 2010 GSR.

What he says.

I have consider many times to upgrade, but dont know if it will work out the same as far as performance goes as they brake very good the way they are.
