Doesnt seem like there are many alternatives to an Evo X
You're confusing the TTS with the TT RS - I was listing TTS performance numbers
TTS MSRP is $47K, $50K loaded with Nav
And the TTS only comes in Auto (S-tronic), whereas the TT RS only comes in manual.
But I understand - the TT style doesn't appeal to everybody (kinda like the EVO or the STI doesn't appeal to everybody either)

Just noticed you have an RS. Have you tracked it?
I love my MR for daily driving. I would reccomend Tuning the SST and Airfuels even stock. Pig rich and gas mileage isnt the best. Once you get a good tune the SST improves alot along with mileage. I have crazy traffic here in Vegas and love the Auto and when you want to have fun just go in S-Sport and use the paddles
Tempting...
Maybe at the next club event...

From all you guys told, me I think the issue is random. Only one of my friend's 07 STI has this problem today. My other friend are lucky then.
I think people have too much concern about about the ringland issues! In fact, I don't hear much STI owner having this problem when they keep it stock or not abusing it. EVO has it only problem, too.
Youve got to be kidding...number four issues plague the STI forums. Ive ran into several owners that have had this issue...some stock and others slightly modified. That plus the oil pickup breaking off....the two concerns that should cross your mind at every start up. Reliability isnt the STIs strong suit....

Mitlan - I didnt mention, but I'm located in Minnesota, USA. The Focus RS isnt sold here. We have the ST, but it's not in the same performance category as Evo's.
I used to have a RWD 1999 Camaro SS. I drove it through 2 winters with no snow tires. Honestly, it's not that bad as long as you're very careful. It's tolerable because in reality there isnt snow on the roads most of the time - it's plowed. I dont think I'd do it again without snow tires though, if at all. My ideal situation would be a C6 Z06 and a DD beater, but I dont really have the ability to own 2 cars right now.

The funny thing is that, my car kills all the very fast RWD in winter especially at a corner. For safety, RWD always has a risk of uncontrolled 180 turn no matter in what condition. I have seen a mustang and corvette run of of control in summer time because of accelerating too fast.
If you really want to for a car that has performance with AWD with reasonable price. EVO and STI is the best. No car can be compared at the price level. If you are willing to spend more. Audi S4, mini, 911 are good. Basically, all street version of rally cars are what you looking for.
You are correct, if you look at it in terms of pure performance.
BMW 335xi isn't a true performance car. It's a luxury sedan with some *****.
Golf R is inferior in any performance aspect. The only plus side of a Golf R is that is has a nice plush interior.
Audi S4/RS4, sure it's a luxury car, but it's also a performance car. However, price point wise they are no where near the same.
GT-R is a superior machine in most regards, but it's also comes with a superior price tag.
Anything else, as you've mentioned, is FWD/RDW and clearly not going to handle like an Evo.
That brings me to STi...
It's an inferior product at the same price point. On top of ringland issue, it also has intercooler problems (exploding coupler seals), and doesn't have Active Yaw Control.
Sure, it's got this computer that can change the throttle response... big deal, you aren't interested in an Evo or STi to drive it like a grandma, so why the hell would you want less throttle response? And if your answer is fuel economy, you probably shouldn't even be looking at either car.
Superior handling, equally as fast out of the box, easier to make power with aftermarket, more reliable. Evo > STi hands down!
If your budget is $35-$43k, and you truly want a performance car, there isn't a better one on the (new) car market, period.

Rwd cars can still get around in the winter, but awd cars are FUN AS HELL in the winter. Get an evo, put blizzaks on a second set of wheels for winter, and win.
I have a 2003 A4 1.8T quattro as well (wife's car) and I had a 2006 S4 (4.2) prior to the evo... I can't say much bad about the audis, other than price. They're good cars, have great interiors (even the 2003...), quattro is great, handle well, and fun to drive year round... but they're heavier and not as performance-focused as the evo. The audis are also considerably more expensive to mod and maintain than an evo (especially that 4.2... scary). STi... you'll find people on both sides of that fence... of my 3 friends with STis, 1 has a 2012 lightly modded, auto-x's a lot, and wishes he bought an evo instead, 1 has an 04 heavily modded and tracks/auto-x's a lot but told me to buy an evo instead when I asked, and the other has an 05 bone stock, doesn't track or autox at all, but loves the car.
I'm in MN too.. I drove around for an hour enjoying the car in this past week's snowstorm

Hit up the local evomn.net forum if you haven't already. Lots of good people.

Tim brings up a point of clarification for my comments. My comments are in regard to the 08+ STi vs. the 08+ Evo.
Prior to the 08 model year Evo was a superior track car, the STi was a better road car. Now the Evo is both.
And yes, as Tim suggested, check out Evomn.net!
