Evo X shopping

Hey guys I'm going to a dealership or two to look at some evo tens. Can you guys give me any advice on how to knock down a few dollars off the tag?

There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...m-vendors.html

Try to use truecar.com.

Get the invoice price of the exact model you want (via Edmunds or another site like KBB). Don't pay over invoice.

If there are multiple dealers in your area, get them to compete against each other.

If they have a leftover 2012 that is the exact car you want, you should be able to get a huge discount on the car. Likely several thousand dollars below invoice price.

It's hard to get a great deal if you really want it. If you could care less, you get awesome deals!! Maybe I'm just to easy to read.

Always pretend like you don't really like it much and there are better ones elsewhere.

Always pretend like you don't really like it much and there are better ones elsewhere. Talk about how much better the ones that are somewhere else are, how you don't really like the color and you want a different color and find every flaw etc point them all out.

Take the Pepsi test drive with one, then maybe they will give you a discount.

Unfortunately, I would say this is probably one of the worst times to buy (any car) due to the time of year. So as far as negotiating with dealer on price, they probably aren't going to have much wiggle room. Best time to purchase is during winter, between November- January time frame. Dealers tend give a little more on prices during then.

With that said, as far as trying to negotiate, offer to put more money down, make it clear that you don't NEED the car, and don't show too much emotion while with the dealer. If they try to give you a bad deal, just walk away, if they really need/want to move the car, then they'll call YOU back. And always remember, while I don't exactly like dealerships, it is still a business, they have to make money there. Good luck OP.

If you have a local dealer you can trust, [I do, it is in Minnesota and has the initials WBL], go with them. Our local dealer has absolutely superb prices. If not, then go onto AutoTrader and shop around. I had bids on about 10 cars around the US until I found a great deal in Houston, Texas. Got my car for about $1,500 less than MSRP.

I wanted one, but I wasn't really in a place where I should buy one. I low balled him pretty badly to get out of there, and he took my offer.

What was the asking price and what did you low ball him?! I'm going tomorrow to look at a 2011 WW GSR with 12,161 miles and they want 29,999 for it. I am thinking about offering 27,000(as a low baller) but not going over 28,000. Lemme know what you guys think! The price was also lowered from 31,999 to 29,999. It has also been on the lot since 3/8(March 8th for anyone who is lazy). It is not a Mitsubishi dealership also its a Honda hyundai dealership.

I had a trade in, and he offered $500 over what other dealers offered, and invoice on evo. I told him we were still $5,000 apart on price, and it was never gonna work, I just couldn't pay that much for a one year old car, even if it was brand new. He made a few calls, and 20 minutes later he came in and said that we had a deal. I bought my 2012 at the end of 2012, the 2013 cars had already hit the other dealers.

I regretted making the offer, but, when I make an offer and it's excepted, in my mind, the contract is already signed. The car is just so much nicer than I expected it to be, and I like it more than I ever thought I would.

So in the end what did you pay?
