Seems to be the norm. I think it has to do with the float level and having fuel sesperated by the center, instead of one flat bottomed tank.

A lot of cars seem like they burn through the bottom half of the tank quicker. I personally hate the electronic gauge in the evo x's. I hate how its constantly telling you how ****ty the gas mileage is too haha. One minute ill look down at the gauge and it says 200miles, then 20 min later of doing some run arounds and it says like 160, it floats too much. I like the old school gauge in my 9, moves a little slower lol

My eclipse does the same damn thing. You think to yourself, this might be the best mileage I've ever gotten. Then you get past a half tank and your spirits drop a little

Does this mean that filling back up when it's only half-way to empty will get me better mileage?

(Or should I save this question for tomorrow?)

Maybe if anything just a little better.... I like keeping my tank full because of fuel pump reasons

Supposedly it Evaps faster with the extra room after its half empty. Not sure if that's true though

Ethanol evaporates and turns into water, eh? And lead can be turned into gold by whispering certain words, too, right?

no it doesn't. Well it kinda does. Gasoline evaporates too bro. Put a bucket of each side by side and watch them both disappear magically, "star tron" or not. It's not a sealed system, either. Look behind the carpet on the left side of the trunk and you'll see a big vent structure that allows air to go in or out and not condense, which is why we don't go up in flames every summer.

the gauges do that, and have ALWAYS done that-in all cars- because it gives the feeling that your gasoline "last a long time!", which increases the overall consumer satisfaction with the purchase. You've noticed Im sure that when it's on "empty"-it's still a gallon in there...which is 10% of fuel capacity. So why isn't the gauge 1/10th of the way up then? Because then you wouldn't get gas yet, and you'd run out and be mad at the car. Just like a MPG Gauge-okay, that's a joke, but consumers look at it like "ooohhhh I'm getting 50MPG now!" no, you're not

When you say something silly, such as one molecule morphs into a completely different molecule when it merely evaporates, you have three choices. You can say "oops, yeah, that was silly"; you can double down and defend the nonsense; or you can try to change the topic, as if you never said the silly thing in the first place.

The third option isn't the correct one to choose, dude.
