hi guys i am new to the forums...just picked up an evo 10 and haven't had the best luck so far. First off id like to say that south coast tryed to rip me off by sneaking a 1295 dollar paint warranty on the deal. watch out for the finance manager as he is sneaky little bastard. asides from that i am thrilled with the car although im having trouble fixing a chattering noise that im getting from the passenger side shifter cable. it is rattling under acceleration and driving me nuts. ive had my whole center console off the car for about a week now trying to figure it out and ive almost got it figured out, but i need some help. today i had some time off so i removed the cable from the bottom of the shifter and drove around in 3rd gear....i found out that its not at the point where the bottom of the shifter connects to the cable. i also found out that when i twist the cable the noise goes away. it is some where right where the shifter cable goes into the dash and i dont know what i should do. any advice would be appreciated...sorry for the long post and thank you for your time.

 

i also tryed to turn that shifter cable 360 degrees and put the bottom ball of the shifter into it and i just couldnt get it in....i also ended up slicing my handing and bleeding all over my center console, so that was nice. like i said this rattle is driving me insane. the dealership also said that they would fix it when i purchased the vehicle and when i was having it serviced i don't think they did anything....damn dealerships....

 

so....i didnt really get any response which is okay...im just updating the post. i was able to get a set of vise grip pliers to hold the cable while it was turned 360 degrees and get the bottom of the shifter in it. it has gotten rid of the rattle but now im feeling a had vibration running through the shifter on hard acceleration...so its still hitting on whatever its hitting on but now i can live with it. any more input would be nice...thanks
