Ebay intercooler
Ive been hearing a lot of talk about IC and i wanted to know if i could go with an ebay one. Im only 18 and i have an 08 evo with all bolt ons but a IC and a bbk lite turbo tuned by cbrd and i made 345/300 and ive had bad luck with this car clutch went out then cmc broke then it blew up after my tune. its all fixed now but i dont have the money for an expensive IC ive seen post about ebay ones but there running them on 600whp cars mines no where near that and i just want to know if id be ok with it cause i need one asap i want this tune off my car. all three of my friends blew them up all tuned by cbrd. could be a random but idk. i just dont wanna re tune it until i get a IC
My recommendation is NOT to get anything power related off of ebay. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying that, but for reliability's sake, I recommend you wait until you can afford a decent one like ETS or even AMS.
Thank you i know what you mean i just wanted the tune off asap my cars not running right at all and like i said all 3 off are cars blew and there daily driven rarely driven hard. i guess what im asking would it work for a few months till i could upgrade
If I were you, and the car is running as bad as you claim, then go ahead and get a tune. What's $500 to prolong the life of your engine, what mods do you have currently other than your turbo setup? What is causing it to run badly? There are several questions that need to be answered here first before you do anything.
One more thing, I am not bad mouthing CBRD here so no flaming. However I just spoke with someone in my area roughly 2 weeks ago who had full bolt ons, tuned at CBRD running 30+ psi on a stock turbo... Motor took a dump. I would say go and talk to the guys in Gaithersburg, MD at AMS tuning. There good people, and while my word doesn't mean much, I can vouch for them being very reliable tuners. Trust me, they know their stuff. I believe they charge $500 for the initial tune, and then $100-$150 for each additional re-tune. Hit them up if when you get the chance.
*FWIW, 345/300 seem awfully low for a bbk, even on a Mustang dyno.

No. Go for AMS. 18 with an X? Your either famous, had mom and dad buy you a sweet *** car, or your making money some way that I wish I could. Lol. But honestly, it's a hit or miss with ebay. I had bought my 2g gsx IC off of eBay and never had a problem, great flow and no leaks. I can't speak for the X though.

Second, what did you mean by "all bolt ons but a IC and a bbk lite turbo"? So do you have all bolt-ons EXCEPT an IC or upgraded turbo or you mean no IC but you've upgraded the turbo?
Finally, it's not about whether you should get a bigger IC (you should), but if you're going down the wrong route. Going eBay for power parts, like others said, is taboo. You have a $30k+ car FFS, don't cheap out on something so important. If you can't afford the upgraded IC, then stick with stock. It won't kill your car, but you won't make as much power. Do you really want a cheap part that has a good chance of not fitting in the right places, or leaks, or doesn't actually work properly, never mind better?
You'll have less problems if you tune without a cheap IC and a working stock one, than risking a non-functional IC and having your tune fluctuate.
Alternatively, you can drive light-footed until you can get an IC. As long as you don't boost, you run less risk of having your car go up in smoke, but that's harder than it sounds, especially if you're prone to spikes. I actually ran most bolt-ons and no tune for about two weeks while I waited for my turn, and while I got some spikes, I made it out in one piece.
The lowest-costing upgraded IC I've seen is from AGP, which I have. It also has one of the best cores according to some tests. In group buy it can get as low as $500 each.

I would recommend either ETS or AMS, they both make quality intercoolers.
I do not. That was awhile ago. I have an X now. Honestly man, the X hasn't been around that long. The DSM crowd had tried the eBay parts and found out they proved themselves. Hell, I was running an eBay 16g turbo in my gsx for a little bit. Only problem was a bit of turbo lag. But other than that, never had a problem.
