Haha yeah I had 1 evo pull on me but never found out what mods it had but if the stock ones stay close too! Thats what changed my mind! lol also are their any aftermarket turbos I can just bolt on to the stock block? Most of the ones ive seen are rated for 500awhp and up. I feel like it would be cheaper just bolting on a turbo instead of buying a **** load of mods.

There are tons of upgraded stock frame turbos. Look into companies such as Forced Performance, CBRD, and MAP. Their bolt on turbos are on point. Just a heads up though you're gonna need all of those extra mods for that upgraded turbo to work properly. Especially if you wanna make 450whp like your mustang. you're gonna need a intake, downpipe, test pipe or high flow cat, exhaust, definitely an upgraded intercooler, intercooler piping, get your exhaust manifold ported, upgraded fuel rail with bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, new clutch, some form of boost controller, and most importantly a tune. there's probably even a few things I'm forgetting. the point I'm making is typically you upgrade the turbo last once you have all the supporting mods. also if you wanna make 450whp-500whp you might up needing some head and block work. upgraded cams, valve springs and retainers, forged pistons, rods, etc. I hope I'm not making you change your mind dude the evo x is a great car, and a very capable car when built properly. I'm sure there are ways to get to 450-500whp without some of the mods I mentioned. But then you'd be cutting corners. if you want a 500whp evo that you can drive everyday reliably without worry, then don't skip steps. here is my advice: go full bolt ons with the stock turbo. If at the end of the day the car still isn't quick enough then go for that bigger turbo. Cheers

Yea that sounds like a great idea. I just thought you can just buy one of those bolt on kits and go lol. of course its never that easy! Your not steering me away from the evo at all! I wish I could be a passanger in a modded evo to see what it really feel likes before I make the decision. The stock evo was OK but I was expecting a little better. But hey the mustang is no where near stock so Its hard to compare.

The accessport is good if you aren't gonna do some crazy build which will require a upgraded ecu. it works well with the stock ecu and it'll support a 500whp setup. The nice thing about it is the ability to switch maps on the fly as well as diagnose engine issues if any happen to arise. It's a good tool. Like I said it's perfect street setups and it'll handle a 500whp build.

Yea thanks hopefully I will be in a evo with a couple weeks to a month. Just trying to figure out what I want in the car. I really want the leather seats but if I dont get them ill save the couple thousand and use it towards mods so im not exactly sure.

I would avoid the leather seats and use to extra money for mods. A coupes thousand goes a long way in modding evo. the way I look at it is do you wanna have a 240whp evo x with leather seats or a 360whp evo x with the standard recaro seats. I'd rather be going really really really fast in cloth seats then just fast in leather seats

Haha agreed but I feel like the cloth seats are cheap. But down the road I could always swap them out I guess.

One last thing, I see people dont really like the cold air intake from ams. People just go with the basic intake. Why is that? I think you can get more hp/tq from the cold air intake

I can't speak for anyone else but in my opinion it's too long. The piping is routed all the way from the back of the engine where the turbo is to right in front of the driver side front wheel right behind the fog light housing on the bumper. Their shorter, standard works just fine and adds similar power and torque. not to mention the cold air intake is like 150 more than the standard intake. If you're gonna go with AMS get the standard I take. But I would look into ETS as well. I personally like their products better than AMS's. but that's just me.

.....or wait, save up, mod later and have both. I just bought an Evo a couple weeks a ago and personally, the difference between leather and cloth seats is huge. The feel, look, and quality are vastly improved with the leather. The seats definitely add a nice touch and make the car feel less cheap. If that meant that I save up and delay modding for a few months, imo, well worth it.
