New Member EVO X MR, track day coming up

Hey folks I'm coming over from the dark side. I just sold my 07 widebody H/C track prepped Corvette. My wife and I are moving to Colorado here in the next month or so and I needed 4 doors, AWD and Automatic.......So here I am. I am running with Speed Ventures next weekend with the new EVO, any tips I should know? I'm not a noob to the track but this is my first AWD track day. I'm keeping it in stock trim for this DE then installing some coilovers and wheels afterward. If your going to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for the DE let me know and hopefully I could learn a thing or two

Here's the Vette:

Install a transmission cooler. The SST transmission tends to over hear fairly quickly/easily when tracked or pushed hard.

I should change the title now and edit the thread. I backed out of the DE and got my refund. I'm going to prep the car a bit first before I track it. CO's, bolt on's, coolers, wheel/tire etc....by the time I get the car ready the motor should be broken in and I will have driven it enough to learn the car (input/feedack/turn-in/excelorating out of corners).....As of now (stock) this thing is a blast to drive and near impossible to keep my foot out of the throttle....

I would also consider properly breaking the car in before just throwing it on the track with 7 miles. The break in period is pretty crucial in evo's. cause not only are you breaking in the motor, but you're breaking in the tranny, transfer case, front, center, and rear diffs. Refer to your owners manual. All specific/relative information is in there.

Nothing to crazy, it's basically just a fun street car that can be driven to the track then driven back home. tanabe turbo back exhaust, titek 02 housing, Perrin intake w/ foam filter, walbro 255 fuel pump, and 1050cc injectors, a hallman manual boost controller, and nisei intercooler piping. other than that everything else is stock. Making the switch to E85 has been the biggest difference. I fully recommend it if it's accessible to you

Nice upgrade! I went to Irvine Cars and Coffee quite often back when I lived in Irvine, don't remember seeing your vette though. Better safe than sorry concerning the track days before breaking in. How was your experience with Cerritos Mits? They are the closest to me when I'm in Socal. Good luck with the move.

1.) My wife needs to be able to drive it and it's going to become a DD 49 miles EACH way in traffic.

2.) Around a track it will shift better and more accurately then I ever could. Keeping within the limits of the SST ( >400WHP + SSP coolers) is more then enough for track duty.....regardless my heel toe technique was garbage and the MR eliminates that.

3.) I'm 32 now and the wing on the GSR (unless a dedicated track car) is a bit much for me.

I actually got the car at South Coast Mitsu....good experience...they took my track prepped c6 for a good price and the people there were great (Sam, Mariana and the GM)
