If you bought the X with less than 10mi odo, you should notice the smell. I'd say it's just normal break-in. I got my X with only 6mi. Still loving it as the first night was =)

Also, I've heard the burning smell from some type of sprayed on corrosion protectant burning off. There's some salt in the air between Japan and Long Beach. Would make sense something like that would be necessary.

I just picked up my 2014 evo this last weekend and I haven't experienced any of these symptoms, however I do have a quick but off topic question concerning the 2014 suspension on the GSR. I don't want to start a new thread for a simple yes or no question. On the sticker it listed "inverted shocks" and I'm wondering if this is a change from earlier models. Google hasn't led me to an answer or even a lead on this topic but all I really want to know is if the suspension from earlier model Evo X are compatible with the 2014.

Thanks guys

It's been a while since I've been on here. Has another changed on the '13s or '14s or they still the same 'ol thing? Having a little Evo withdrawal here.

if only 55 miles i'd say there isnt much to worry about the smoke. Prob just normal smoke from thing breaking in. When I heat wrapped my downpipe on my turbo rsx a few years ago, it smoked like hell until the wrap sinked in, but after a little driving no more smoke.. plus if any doubts your still under warranty

First post by the way, cheers!!

700 miles and everything is running smooth. Installed a CBE, H&R Springs, Mud Flaps and other show bits.

I hit 24xx miles so far and ive only had the car for a month lol. The smell has gone away for me after the first couple hundred miles. Gave me a good scare though lol. Especially since it was my first manual car...

Have had my Evo Mr 2014 for a month now ( 600miles >_< ) I sometimes have that burning smell, I'm not racing or beating on the car so I'm wondering if it's just because I didn't break it in yet or if it's burning off some excess stuff

It'll go away. My car is fine now. No smoke or smells...other than my TP.
