'14 GSR Question

So I just picked up a new Evo last night and noticed a few things which didn't happen to me on my first Evo X.

1) The smell of either clutch or burning rubber

Only 55 miles so I'm still breaking it in driving like a granny. This happens almost every time I drive.

2) Smoke from hood

I'm assuming it's associated with the smell. With the hood closed you can see it seeping from where the hood meets the fenders and over the headlights. It's not thick, but it's noticeable.

Again, none of this happened when I bought my 2011 X 2 years ago brand new.

Any ideas?

I just picked mine up last Friday, I do smell the burning rubber but then realized its the actual tires. As for the smoke, I really don't want to freak you out but any smoke from the engine bay = bad.

Minus the smell, is there anything else wrong?

That's about it. And it's not really like smoke, it's more like steam I guess?

When I picked up my 13 it had 7 miles on it and the smell was bad for a week or 2. I was told it was the exhaust burning itself clean or something like that. My 14 had 30 miles on it and no smell I noticed. I might have been used to it though. Are you sure you aren't just seeing the heat come out of the vents on the hood?

I noticed the burning smell on my 13 GSR, but there was no visible smoke, steam, etc.

When I got my 13' there was a smell coming from engine but it wasn't burnt clutch smell. After a few hundred miles or so it goes away. Mines went away and it never came back

I had smoke way back when my car was new. It would even seep out of the ac/heater vents when I'd shut the car off. The smell was pretty overwhelming too. Enjoy it. It's all apart of the new car smell. It'll settle down with time.

Nice. For those who've owned a 2011 and a 2014, does the clutch feel lighter and steering heavier? Drove my old X the other day and it's so different haha.

Normal. Its all the assembly lubricant and machining oil burning off.

Nah I know that but it was seep from the bottom of the hood the vents. I know escaping heat is normal.

mine too and I would put Apples to *******s that its the assembly oil like Kracka said. Mine smells more like oil or gas than rubber but still... and only after a nice long drive. I'm at 2300 miles and still doing it.
