Yeah the shifts are much quicker and harsher in S-Sport (which I like) over the slightly more delayed response in normal.

Personally, I don't regret my MR at all. While I would've taken a 6-speed manual at the time of purchase, I'm happy with what I have. I drive in S-Sport mode most of the time. I like the rougher and faster shifts. Feel like a 'real car.' If I have a group in the car or on a long drive I'll use Sport mode to keep it shifting smooth (although watching my passengers jolt during a shift can be funny). Never ever do I use Normal unless I'm again on a long trip and want to use cruise control. Lastly, I never leave it in auto - BORING! But yeah to answer your question it's definitely noticeable difference between the three modes. Keep in mind you can only change to S-Sport when at a stop or barely rolling

I just thought that the shift shock you feel in s sport mode was in the older 2008 evo x's
Cause I heard that mitsubishi tweaked the gearbox tcu for smoother shifting in the 2010 models and up I just hope my 2010 mr touring has shift shocks in s sport......I wanna feel my head go front and back between shifts Lool it's just something I'm obsessed with......

Sexy R34!!

I loved my MR. I'm selling my GSR this weekend and buying my wife an MR. Can't wait to get an SST again. It was always what I wanted, but I was scared about the cost of replacing the transmission. With Jacks Transmission, some spare parts, it makes it easy to rebuild them now.

After all these years, there hasn't been a ton of failures. Enough that I believe in the transmission completely.

I'm currently loving my SST as well, but I noticed you mentioned an ISF. I've tested out a couple of those and to be honest in comparing dual clutch transmissions, the ISF has a better gearbox to me.

Maybe our SST's don't have rev-matching downshifts because I can feel the "jerkyness" at times, but not enough to unsettle the chassis. The ISF has this incredible "bark" when it blips the throttle on downshifts. I wil also say that the ISF tranny seems to shift quicker too.

As for the agressiveness in shifting the SST is what you want though, because under WOT in S-SPORT mode it shifts fast and hard.

I've driven: SST, DCT, PDK, DSG, ISF's tranny and Dodge's "Autosport" and I'd have to say PDK hands down is the fastest, smoothest most simliar to an F1 tranny out. Then would be DCT and SST.

My $0.02

EDIT: I'm going to post a thread about it.

I dont know what year you're looking at but as far as I can tell my 2014 MR only has normal and sport. I dont see a s-sport option. The car does feel different if you have it in sport and are manually shifting it but im not sure 100% on that.

I've owned 2 GSR's and currently own a 2013 MR Touring with the SST

I like it a lot, in regular mode it is quit comparable to most normal automatics and is not jumpy. In sport, it upshifts and downshifts firmly but not coffee-spilling. In Super Sport, it's insane and feels like a race car. You'll love it.

Absolutely how I felt about mine, too. I bought 2 GSR's beforehand, but after hte SST had been out for 5 years with a very good track record, I decided to take the plunge and bought an MR and am very happy with it
