after it's in sport mode, press and hold the button again for 5 seconds while not moving.

Like any non-CVT transmission there will always be some shift shock. And it does tend to get more noticeable as you ramp up the awesome.

One of the major things to be aware of with the SST is the threshold at which the transmission will over heat if you start modding. This happens much faster in the SST than it does in the 5-speed. There are transmission coolers and clutch packs available, but they're a little on the spendy side.

And yes, you can change the head unit.
First of all, i have to say that i really LOL'd at "ramp up the awesome" and i'm going to steal the phrase.

Also I have a note to fellow SST owners. One of the biggest ways people ruin their clutchpack is overusing Normal mode. Jacks Transmissions metions to SST owners they do business with and will tell you the same thing; avoid using Normal mode for anything other than cruise control. When you use Normal, the car slips the clutch a bit to keep things smooth for non-enthusiasts and baby mommas. This sliping, as with any clutch, will eventually ruin it. All it takes is literally the flip of a switch to greatly improve the life of your clutch. It doesn't matter if you use auto or manual, but stick with at least Sport mode for shifting either way.

Will the car remain in a certain mode (say sport) when you shut off and start again or do you need to change the mode every time you start it.

Default when you start the car is Normal, it won't stay.

This is news to me but if that's true I'm glad that there's a way to maintain and improve the life of my sst transmission. As of today I will only be driving in sports mode.

I would love if there is a way to have sport or Super Sport as default mode on startup.

Can you just copy the sport map over the normal map in the tcu and super-sport over sport?
