Something weird is going on!

Okay so here is the deal, I was driving home tonight and i needed to do some logging of a few WOT pulls. After completing the pulls I noticed my rpm's bouncing a little up an down for about 2-4 seconds then the car idled normal. What is up with this?

nobody really has an answer for this.

i've had this issue since the first day i owned my car and it's still doing it periodically.

you'll really flip out when it actually stalls (happened once).

My car has the same issue. I've had it for a little over a week now and the idle jumps from 500-1000rpms sometimes and other times it is jumping between 650-800. It stalled on me once.

The car has TBE, cat delete, o2 dump, AMS intercooler, short ram, OTS tune with accessport... I'm going to have it looked at by EFI in CT tomorrow so I hope they can inform me.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I know for us galant when the idle bounces around, we change the IAC and pretty much fixes the issues 90% of the time

It pisses me off because it never happened when I got the car. Well at least I know now that I'm not the only one having this issue. Let me know if they find anything.

That is crazy, so it's just something the car does lol. Could it be something with IAC like mentioned below?

apparently so. but just to give you an idea, my 08 gsr has over 100k miles now and it has not caused any issues so far. the time that it actually stalled on me, it was 110 degrees and i was driving pretty spiritedly (shifting around 5k rpm). the car was idling fine until i came to a stop at a light when the rpm started dropping from 800 rpm to below 500 for about two seconds and it just died. fired it up again and it started fine, no issues so drove off. heat related? not sure, but that's what happened to me.

this was all before a proper pro tune. after i got the tune, i mentioned it to the tuner and he was aware of the issue but couldn't really tell me what the problem was. after the pro tune, it still does it periodically but it has not stalled on me.

IAC???

When are people going to search? It's a problem with the factory map. It switches the idle tables back and forth. Once you get tuned the tuner usually adjustes the tables to be closer, so then the idle won't dip when the computer changes idles.

My guess is right around the same time that people read the rules (including the one about not telling people to search). But you were good enough to provide the answer, so your complaint, in this case, is cool. Including a link or two to the answers, however, is even better because it allows a mod to easily merge the threads or shut the new one down. Thanks.

With that said, my approach (e.g., https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ody-evo-x.html ) is not any better, so who am I to say anything?

wow, this makes me wonder if i got a pro tune or an amateur tune now. my tuner has no fix for this.

Didn't wanna come across as a dick... But here's the link. If you have a accesport you can modify the map to fix this issue. Also if your tuner has no idea then id get a new tuner.

Problem solved. I had the car at EFI Logics yesterday to get tuned and they fixed my issue. It was running really lean at idle. They fattened it up and raised the idle RPM to 950. It's running perfect now. Not sure if this helps everyone but it fixed my issue.
