Welding a pin when doing clutch???

Someone told me to ask my tuner/mechanic to weld a pin in the tranny when doing the clutch job I have scheduled. I asked why and they couldn't explain.

Can anyone here tell me what they are talking about and if its necessary.

I'm putting in Comp. Clutch STG 3 in the car.

Thanks

Odds are, they are talking about the pins in the center diff that can break. If so, they have it exactly backwards, because the problem is that they seize. They need to move.

For more, see, e.g., http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pages/evox-review

If this isn't what they are talking about, ignore me.

Okay I understand better now. Thanks for the link!

Is there a constant with the failures? high horsepower, excessive abuse? Or is it just a matter of time?

There are no significant predictors that I know of.
