stalled at red light

2012 Evo Gsr - no mods

sitting at a red light the other night in neutral. rpms stared fluttering a little bit then dropped all the way down and the car shut off.

car was fully warm, heat was on but no defroster, radio was on w/ BT audio (not that i think that matters)

any insight?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening again or unless the car is now running funny. I had a stock 2012 and although it never died on me, there were times that the idle would bounce real low and it would come close to dieing.

check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line near the front left of the motor. Seems like it's a common problem, was never secured very well. It will continue popping off unless you use a clamp or ziptie

But if that popped off, wouldn't you be able to tell something is wrong with your car? You would have a continued problem right?

The only problem I ever experienced was the occasional bouncy idle. There is an extensive thread on it here somewhere. Wouldn't it be easiest to start there regardless?

Definitely worth checking and securing. I had my 2012 though for almost 15 months. Car was completely stock the whole time and the hose never popped off. But the idle was bouncy from the very beginning and stayed that way the whole time. There was even a time or two that the car was difficult to start and a few times I thought it was going to die on me when I approached a stop sign and that idle started bouncing. Maybe something was wrong with mine. Because my 2013 didn't have such a bouncy idle. I think the 2012 tune just probably needs a little tweaking.

If the hose is secure, and if in stock form it probably will be, I wouldn't sweat it too much unless the car is running differently or this behavior persists. But as hamburger_train suggests, check that hose to be sure.

car is a lease. I would love to get it tuned and get some more power out of it but its not worth it in the long run. guess I will just have to deal with it.

Buy a Cobb AP. Find a tuner that tunes on the cobb. Then when you turn it in, flash it back to stock and sell your Cobb AP

then you raise the age old debate... is there a flash counter in the ecu???? lol I don't know if that's a headache I want ton get involved with. the dealership was very adamit that the car remained stock. that they can tell when the ecu was messed with. they went on and on about how ivey tune is right down the road and they know all about the 'tuner scene'.

I don't know what to believe but I have 8 months left on a car I'm not sure if going to keep.

Doesn't disconnecting your battery cause the ECU to register a flash?

Nope. If it did, Mitsu wouldn't be so hung up on checking our ECUs when we come in for any kind of work.
