evo caught fire

Had my windows cracked at work and some how it caught fire. Since there was no cameras there no telling what happened. But pretty much the whole interior has to be replaced from front to back. Yall think it totalled? Its a 2012 evo gsr with 31,000 miles.

That sucks. The only thing i can think of is if it rained or snowed after the windsheild go cracked, there is electronics (radio and the 4wd control ) behind the glove box area.

Sorry for your loss.

Maybe someone threw a cigarette inside your car?

I think you for get that this car has a lot of electronic controls. If the wire are burned then you are going to have a lot of electrical problems.

To get it to like new working condition they may need to replace a lot of the wiring and any electronic component that was/maybe damage for the dashboard melting.

If i had to guess, Yes the insurance will probably call it a total.

pretty sure the repairs have to cost like 1/2 or 1/3 of the vehicles value to be 'totaled'

Arson. There is no way a vehicle that is off will auto-ignite and catch fire from the inside.
You're saying the windows were slightly open means someone threw a match, cigarette, lit the headliner on fire, or something like that.

If you had a fuel leak under the hood you would have caught fire while driving and the fire would have been under the hood not in the interior.

If you had a short in your wiring, your fuse would have blown, unless you have pulled in audio wire or other power wires and left that part out...

That's just sick. Really wish there was a camera to catch the ******* that would do something like that. Hope for the best. I'm sure this will be classified as Comprehensive, so premium shouldn't go up. Hopefully they will give you a check big enough for a new GSR if it is total Make sure to grab any mods before they take it though.

1. yes the will total it, regardless of the shape, miles, and, or condition of the rest of the vehicle. Fire damage can fatigue metals making the car less safe, it could melted wires that you would need to pull the whole car apart to replace. We are only human and there is no guarantee that the person fixing it will get everything and that puts you and your family at risk. It's gone man, whoever did it, good job.

Sorry about your loss man...

Best thing you can do if you want to fix it is buy it back at an auction, I don't even think the insurance will sell it back to you due to the type of damage it has.

Ask me how I know this...

yep, totalled. fire damage would melt everything and cost too much to replace entire interior and electronics.. plus i bet the smell would not go away and most likely as stated above it's less safe.

Good luck with the insurance. I hope they treat you right and cut you a fat check for a replacement ASAP.

Well this sucks.... But honestly if they total it then I'll probably just take awhile and save up money and see what the new evo is like. I'm just pissed that ppl would be this disrespectful. This world is going to s***......
