New Car Buying Question
New Car Buying Question
Hello, hopefully this is the right place for this, I couldn't find a better place.
So I am about to buy my first new car, and it is going to be a 2014 WW Evo X MR.
I just want to know from previous experience what questions I should ask etc.
I am going to be trading in my previous vehicle.
They said they have to order the evo and it should take 2 weeks. I want to go in this friday to start the process.
Basically what I would like to know is what does that process entail completely. I am kind of scared, for no reason, just nervous I guess.
Thank you so much for your answers in advance!!

Just run the numbers is guess.
-Get an idea of what your trade-in is worth.
-If you can, I would get pre-approved for financing prior to going in. This way you already know what your interest rate will be. Let them run your credit if you want to. This way you may get a better interest rate. But these dealers can adjust your interest rate if they want to. Up to 2% I believe. So you may get them on a good price for the car, but they will try to make it up with your trade-in or by adjusting your interest rates.
-Also decide if you are wanting additional 3rd part warranties. They can adjust that pricing if they want to as well.
Thats really all I can think of. It's just about the numbers and dealers will flex in one area but then add in another. Also don't forget that you don't pay taxes on the amount of your trade-in. And if you have additional warranties or gap insurance on your trade-in, you get that money back prorated.

I was then quoted $220 a month for both cars with Allstate. I'm not sure what was up with USAA, but I dropped them quick.
Shoot, even if your aren't young. I was 29 when I got my first Evo. No tickets in over 6 years and never have had an at fault accident. For the Evo and my Eclipse, USAA quoted me almost $500 a month.

USAA dumped you because they don't like young men with sports cars. As you know, they're military marketed, and young men with sports cars are always the ones costing them money.
USAA did not dump me, I dumped them.I'm a Disabled Veteran. But that made no difference with USAA. They also had me scheduled for another rates increase because they have had to pay out alot of accidents lately. Well atleast that was their excuse. USAA will raise your rates if other drivers are costing them to much money.
I had them for years for my Eclipse (also a sports car). Also had them for my Camaro, yet another sports car. The rates on those cars were really low, which is why I had USAA for so many years. No one else could bet their price on those cars.
What was crazy about USAA is at that time I was thinking of getting a WRX. To cover my Eclipse and a WRX, it was going to be $200 a month. I figured maybe their rate for the Evo was ridiculous because they had to pay out alot of money on them cause of other drivers. But then I talked to a few local folks who supposedly got a good rate with USAA in my area.
Eitherway I never figured out why they were so ridiculous. But my point to the OP is that I was agreeing with you. Get insurance quotes first because Evo rates seem to be all over the place.
Wow,
Thank you guys for these posts. Very informative.
My trade in is fully paid for and my insurance will be quite low. I live in canada and have 45% off normal due to no accidents and military.
That being said, there is only 1 insurance agency in my city ( corrupt or what? )
I have some homework to do

Final suggestion if you're in Canada, check to see if your car is sold with snow tires or all season. If they have summer tires on them, show up at the dealership with snow tires for your new car so you can drive it safely home!
I guess I should also say that it doesn't snow in my city ( Victoria, B.C. ). I mean legit, last year it didn't show at all, and this year it has snowed once, leaving about 1cm of snow MAX lol
Thanks though!!
