Thanks to all for the input. I don't have the funds for winter tires atm and they really do dump an insane amount of salt on our roads. So, my other car will do fine for now.

omg garaging for winter! You dont even need winter tires on the evo and it still is a beast in the snow. You wont even own the car in ten years there will be so many more better cars out by then, you might as well enjoy while you have it.
I let mine sit last year in the garage fwiw. I had a jeep then so I used that. I don't have a beater this year and I have been driving the evo and have to admit I enjoy it as a daily. I switched tires to continental dws and couldn't be happier. At the same token, after install my kw v3 and other parts I will buy another beater for next winter.
To the op, it's a great winter car with the right tires, but I don't fault you for wanting to keep a nice car nice.

That is very true! I have crappy all season tires on it now and it has given me zero issues in the snow this year. And we have gotten a lot here in Maryland this year so far! I honestly think the evo will age very well in the next ten years and still be a blast to drive compared to more modern cars when that time comes. I don't have a crystal ball so we will have to wait and see.
Maybe I'm not quite understanding your use of the word "beast," but any car on, for example, 245 'Kook R-S3s in deep snow or on ice is a car just begging for an off. Just because the car has AWD and above average ABS does not mean that it should be driven on summer times in winter.
my falken azenis where the most terrible thing in the snow. car might as well been on slicks. but yes fuel stabelize the tank and battery tender and you wont need to start the car all winter.
Anyone balling out of control have a lift? You could then drive it all winter and just jack it up on the lift when you got home and spray everything down even the underside. Then no salt damage.
Win win?
Win win?
5 years of owning my car and only the first winter of owning the car I had to drive it. It was no doubt fun as can be... but I would never do it again. Not worth the possible idiots on the roads smashing my car along with all the salt damage. Winter garage queen Evo and I love it.
plus it gives me quality time to work on the car! Nothing quite like taking the car apart and not needing it put back together before the weekends over.
