New to Maryland: Need help with safety inspection

Hey Guys,

I just moved to Frederick MD, from Peoria IL.. I need to get my evo safety inspected to transfer tags and title.

The big question is how do I pass the safety inspection (not talking about emissions check)? does anyone have any contacts that can get me through or know of mod friendly shops? Please PM me!!

I am very slightly lowered on swift spec r
I have a resonated test pipe (could a big resonator pass looking like a cat?, pic attached, but mine only has a single O2 bung)
I have 35% tints
I have an after market exhaust which is not loud (pic attached)
I have 18x9.5 aftermarket wheels with 245/40 rubber so it is very slightly stretched like 1/4th inch on each side. (See pic)

My friends father owns a shop in Manchester maryland . It's about 45 minutes away from Frederick! Beautiful car by the way, and welcome to the good ole police state of Maryland.

You should be fine. They might tell you put a cat back on. All the other stuff is no problem.

Yeah, passing inspections in Maryland is a breeze really. Dealing with law enforcement and emissions on the other hand is a pain.

I don't know where u all get cars inspected in Maryland but its a pain in the ***. U will have to take your tint off and put a cat on. Maryland wants your car to be stock for inspection. My friend had a 5 point harness in his car and they failed it because it wasn't the stock seat belt. If u can have someone hook u up I would definitely go that way.

The tint is legal, however they will not pass it with the tint on unless he goes to a police station that checks the % tint u have. They have to inspect the tint give u a paper saying its fine. Then u have to go back to the inspection station give them the paper u got fr the police for them to pass it. This happen to me about 5 years ago. It might have changed since then but I doubt it.

You are absolutely right. I went through same thing. I was trying to say he does not have to take tint off since it is legal.

I don't but I'll ask around I just moved to Montgomery county myself in the last year so don't know any in the area. U can try to get it done with out going to the cops first see if they say anything. If they do you will have 15 or 30 days depending on where u go to take it back with everything they failed fixed before they charge u again for an inspection. Not every police station tested the tint u have to go specific ones. Again this was 5 years ago when it.happened. to me. Then next fun thing u will have to deal with is emissions in Maryland.

I went through the whole Maryland safety inspection in 2011. I run the DC sport catless DP and they never noticed that I didn't have a cat. Make sure that you have lots of tread on tires, no CEL, legal tint, and plenty of disc life left on rotors otherwise they'll deny you that inspection slip for registration. I went to Mr. Tire btw. Don't go there.

...you are fine. But expect most shops to ding you for 'headlight adjustment' (something/anything so they can charge you i suspect )
