In any event, replacing the OE cat with a test-pipe will have something close to an order of magnitude more of an effect than replacing the OE downpipe. Well, I suppose there's one exception to this: you replace the OE downpipe with a pipe full of holes. But by any reasonable reading of the original question, "downpipe" was the wrong answer.
