Picked out a intake

i'm looking at the AMS cold air. but was wondering if i wanted it without the bungs or with the bungs?

what the difference?

i do plan on going with a 3 port boost controller at some point, if that matters.

i dont know about the intake, but usually you put on a 3-port when your car is getting a tune no?

The bungs are for a wide band gauge, if you are planning on getting this guage then its a good idea to get the downpipe with a bung for it already. Also if you don't use the bung you can screw in a plug into it until you get the guage.

OP is getting an intake, not downpipe. Your information is not incorrect however.

it say right on the page

"This intake can be ordered in two different configurations.
The default configuration is WITHOUT breather bungs for the crank case and boost control solenoid. With this set-up we recommend an oil catch can for the crank case and venting the solenoid to the atmosphere. This will not affect your EVO X's performance negatively in any way.
The second configuration incorporates bungs on the intake pipe where you plug in your breather hoses just as they were from the factory. This is an option at an additional $50 cost."

If you get it with out bungs, you will need a catch can.

I would go with the bungs. that way all the plumbing can still be connects(boost solenoid venting and crank case venting)

And as said above, you can always cap those bungs.
