Best way to wash the engine bay?

How do you guys go about doing this? I have always just soaked the engine bay with water, then with degreaser and rub everything clean\wash.

Then I soak with water one more time.

make sure you cover the intake and exposed wires
you don't want to damage your ecu

The ECU is not in the engine bay.

I usually cover just the alternator as good as I can, and refrain from spraying directly at electrical connections and the such.

I usually just do it with a rag to avoid spaying the intake and electronics. Wet rag first, then one with degreaser, then wet again.

Garry Dean's all purpose cleaner and a microfiber towel is also good to use.

I have an Evo 9 so it may be different but what I do is, cover my intake with a plastic bag, mist down the engine bay. I have one of those adjustable hose nozzles with 6 or so different spray patterns. Spray down the engine bay with p21s total auto wash or whatever cleaner you prefer. Scrub everything down and then rinse it all off with the mist setting again. Then I just grab a bunch of towels and wipe everything dry that I can.

start off with a cool engine. should be cool enough to touch it. cover up the intake & expose wires. Go buy a can or two of engine greaser & a brush to clean in the crevices and cooked on grease. Follow instruction on the can and use a pressure washer (moderate setting) or carwash's pressure washer will do the job.

OK, let's get back to the thread-starter's question and ignore my stupidity. Please.

have it professionally steam cleaned, it runs about $100 but it almost melts all the grime and oil off the engine bay and under the chassis if they throw it on a lift.
