Problems cleaning Wicked White?

I know there are threads about how bad the paint is on these cars but I have a particularly hard time keeping the rear of my WW X clean. When I wash the car each week it just leaves black streaks and spots all over the back. I then basically have to SCRUB the S#$% out of the back with detailer/bug and tar remover to get all of the carbon and road grime off of the rear bumper and trunk lid. I cant even get my lip spoiler clean anymore. Anyone else experience this or is there something especially wrong with my paint?

Claying the car isnt really an option every week lol. I have clayed it, tried different types of wax, etc. The rest of the car just wipes clean when I wash it. The back is the only part of the car that is a completely nightmare.

Are you running a testpipe? I haven't ever really experienced that if I was washing it every week.

With my catback and testpipe, you would definitely see more carbon build up. Maybe you go WOT too much.. Just use this as an excuse to get a tune.. That would help some.

Nah I am running the Cobb HFC. And I am tuned. I would think i would get more build up sitting at idle in traffic than going WOT lol. It's just a real pain. The paint is awful. I have some dark staining on my mirror covers and on the hood scoop too. I am sure the rear is the worst bc it gets all the carbon from the exhaust as well as all the road grime that gets kicked up but I dont understand why it wont wipe clean with soap and water like the rest of the car.

Autoscrub

It works wonders and isn't nearly as envolved as claying. Then just make sure that you have good paint protection. Glaze, Sealant, then Wax is the order I go with. If you have good paint protection, then everything should basically just wipe off. I have no staining problems. I also use a spray wax detail spray when cleaning just to keep a good slick finish. Heck, even road tar and bugs pretty much just wipe off.

OP i have catback and stock cat. i havr same issue as u. after i wash my car take it for a drive, the black soot starts to build up on thr rear trunk and rear bumper. ive used to use sealant and wax. however i noticed after i used sealant the black soot buildup over long periods of time gets stuck longer. somehow it bonds with the trunk.

ive tried clay bar it still wont come off! thats how stubborn it is

solution: if u have a orbiter buffer u can buff it out with just 1 pass. for some reason the vibration of the pads lets it come right off

Any recommendations for brands of the sealant/glaze/wax?

Also, I see a lot of options for Autoscrub...any recommendations on that?

Just get the medium autoscrub. You can get the orbital pad, or the hand rub block. I find myself using the hand block more than anything else. And get some of their lubricant/sealant (Orange colored) As far as other waxes or sealants go, I use Optimum stuff, but just about everything is pretty good now days.

I think he's referring to the black cloud of carbon that everyone behind us loves so much.

It's completely normal for you to have black spots on your trunk and the back of your car. It may also be an indicator that you are running a little rich if there is tons of it.

The only real way to protect your paint and make it easier to clean in the future is to properly clay the car, then compound and polish. Once you have done that get a good sealant and then wax.

Once you have done these steps it will be very easy to use a quick detailer spray/wash to clean the back of the car. Optimum No Rinse is one of the best.

I have the worst time with this! Even after a good seal and wax, it really digs itself into the paint somehow. Washing it every week still gets build up that you can see over time and it starts to look dirtier and dirtier even when its "clean".

About every few weeks I go over it with a light polishing compound and it comes right off no problem. I wish I had a garage to wax in the winter with because the waxing does help a little bit at least.
