Hi All,

Please help.

I just purchased a second hand EVO X 2009 MY09, 4 days ago, and around sharp or sweeping left hand corners the car spits and splatters on acceleration, even with a full tank of gas.

Right hand corners are fine, no problems what so ever!

I don't know what it could be.

Fuel, wheel speed sensor, who knows?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Daniel

If it is fuel starvation, check the fuel pump and housing. And also ensure the in tank fuel line is connected to the housing like it should be.

Wow. If you bought the car with all those mods, you may want to double check to make sure the tune is fine. Post a datalog, or have a local shop who's experienced with evos check it out for you.

It turns out it can't be fuel starvation because it happens on a full tank of fuel. Surge tank manufactures conquer

I’m surprised no one else has experience this same problem on this forum?

It’s not the tune because it was recently done by a well-known tuner here is Australia 2 days ago.

The car drives perfectly in straight lines and around right hand corners.

Around left hand corners its fine as long as your drive it moderately, but when under throttle the car jerks forwards and backwards violently with slight pops out of the exhaust (not back firing) 3 or 4 times until you release the throttle.

Release the throttle, straighten the car and apply throttle again and she drives perfect.

What does the ayc display show when you're going around turns?
Seeing as you have the twin clutch it may be transmission related.

The tranny was tuned with the car, yes?
Might wanna take it back to the tuner or a mitsu dealer to figure out what it could be.

That thread is about 9s and the problem happened in both directions because it was the ACD. But I'd still like to know what the AYC display is showing in this case because that could explain why it only happens with left turns.

With that said, my first guess is still the fuel pump, followed by a engine grounding wire that gets pulled in left turns.

Update - The fuel starvation problem has been fixed. It turns out the fuel pump wasn't installed correctly. The connected fuel filter was positioned along side the fuel pump, rather then underneath, so when the car went around left hand corners the fuel pump would move in the swirl pot, and lean against the fuel filter cause it to starve. I installed a different fuel pump with a fuel filter that sat freely underneath the fuel pump. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem some day.

Or just go to a mechanic who knows what he's doing.
