RPM Bounce/Jump Idle

Nobody likes to look in the tuning section so I'll post here.

Very rarely my RPM's bounce from 800-1K (?). It's happened 3 or 4 times since my tune in December. Mods are full bolt ons minus FMIC and LICP on 91. It's def not the AC and the heatshield issue. Any ideas? Other than that the car runs and pulls great.

I am having similar issue with my idling, sometimes the engine rpm went down to 450 rpm from somewhere around 750rpm and sometimes the engine just dies off.

Check for vacuum leaks. There is a vacuum line next to your dipstick that likes to pop off. If it did pop off make sure to zip tie it back on.

Forgot to mention, my FPR is zip tied nice and tight. I checked it yesterday and it's good. I checked the vac lines too, but I'll go over them again.

SEAFOAM! I had an idle issue it would drop to around 600 or jump up to like 1.5k. Ran some SeaFoam in the Gas tank, Oil , and also sucked in the vaccum lines. after that havnt noticed an idle issues.

This is just my experience though.......

It has to be more complex than seafoam.

But thanks for the suggestion.

How sure are you? Because I know people have this issue with stock Evo's too.

No it doesn't die. It never hesitates. The RPM just bounces and stops. Lasts maybe 5-10 seconds? I've never really let it sit there and do its thing, I rev it and it goes away.

FWIW, I did get tuned in pretty cold weather. 55-65 if I had to guess.

Is it significantly warmer now than it was? Evo 10's calculate both MAF and MAP for idle and fuel, so if one of those is off as a result of temp, it can do weird things. Looks like RRE was your tuner tho right? Have you talked to them? They're great people.

No, I haven't called RRE yet. That's my next step. It's a bit warmer during the day, but at night it's about the same as December mid day.

Doesn't seem like my issue, although it might help? I'll just call my tuner, I forgot to call today after work.

I havent been able to figure out the cause to my issue(s). I think I may get a different tune from a different tuner to see if it is caused from the tune. I have had tuners offer to look at my tune for me, but since my tuner decided to lock my tune for some odd reason, I can't get a second opinion without getting the thing retuned. I'll let you know if this fixes my issues. Let me know if you figure out yours.
