Help.... got a question.

My Evo X is jumping 1000rpms when around 4k rpm at full throttle. It jumps from 4k to 45k then drops back down to 4k and climbs normally. Only does it when I stomp the throttle around 3500rpm to 4k rpms. Any thought of what it could be? All I have done is a magnaflow catback and a short ram air filter. Spectre filter. Any help would be appreciated.

I just put the filter back on since winter is over. But ran the same filter all last summer without this issue. Tried unplugging my car battery for 3 minutes or so to reset the ECU for the filter also. Wasn't sure if I had to leave it off longer or what.

How many km's on your 08? Might be clutch starting to slip. Should not have anything to do with your air filter.

Mine was doing the same thing

just try this all you have to do is switch the Highbeam relay with the fuel pump relay and see if it still does it, if it does it may be the clutch

I literally put the green fuel relay in in about 3 months ago. Got it new off ebay. Doubting its the relay but guess trying that wont hurt. Ive already had the fuel relay stumble before. Sucked as well.

I think it might be your clutch.

I replaced my stock one at 55k and it would jump from 3k-4k then back down when I romped on it too.

Clutch

My car was doing the same thing. I had to upgrade my clutch. Ended up going with a stage 3 clutch. Holds all the power in now.

Find a reputable shop in your area.

CBRD might be the closest.

How good are you with your hands? Cheapest and best option would be to do it yourself. Then you could upgrade your flywheel at the same time. Otherwise your gonna have a hard time finding someone to do it for less than $1300 and if they do you'll get a hack job. Either way make sure you replace the fly wheel or get it machined. Its the same concept as your brakes, you never put fresh pads on rough rotors.

CBRD had the best pricing for a clutch job when my buddy down here in MD was pricing around for his VIII. I would email Chad and see what he's charging...top notch shop and I'm willing to bet he charges a lot less than the dealer!

Oh, and I promise, you won't get a "hack job" from CBRD if they charge less than $1300. I wouldn't listen to that statement
