Is there a different dealer other than mitsu that you use?

Hello all just wondering. I live in a small town a hour away from the closest mitsubishi dealership. My question is is there any other dealerships that you would trust to service your sst transmission? I have honda, subaru, bmw, vw, volvo that are close to me. Also i dont trust any local shops have any experience on sst transmissions.

Servicing doesn't have anything to do with warranty work. He is talking about a fluid and filter change.

I'm not sure about which kind of dealership I would go to. I don't even like going to Mitsu dealers. I would try and do it myself, but that's just me. Whatever you do, make sure and keep all receipts.

Volkswagen may have the "closest type" of transmission as far as similarity. DSG to the SST..

Can you explain what you mean by "service the SST"?

Fluid and filter change only?
Rebuilding it?
Upgrading it to handle higher HP and TQ?

If you use a different dealer or shop for doing fluid and filter changes you may have to hunt the fluid and filter down yourself as well.

The internals are probably past the point of a regular Manual/Auto-Trans tech being able to rebuild/upgrade it. Not saying they couldn't eventually figure it out, but personally I want someone even better than techs looking at mine . (SSP, KOZMIC, Jack's Transmission etc.)

The SST is made by Getrag and they also supply other OEMs with a dual clutch transmission. They sell them to BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes, Ford, Renault and Volvo. Some of their techs may be familiar with that style of transmission if not the exact Evo one. Evo X SST should be PowerShift 6DCT470.

Thanks for the info guys. Im not a very mechanically inclined person and i do no trust myself changing the fluids in the sst.
Yes sorry should have clariffied . I only want to flush it out and change the filter.
I have tracked down the tranny fluid and filter along with the diaqueen gear oils.
Ill call bmw and volvo to see if they have any mechanics familiar.

This leads me to another question if anyone can answer. My evo is a 08 mr with 25k kms about 18k miles the tranny fluid looks relatively clean but should i flush it out since its never been done? ( does the oil get old?)

Also if there are any owners that read this in london / gta ontario area.. Where do you go?

I had mine changed at 32K. Would not go much further than that even though I think the book said 36K, but don't hold me to that lol.

Mine is a DD with constant stop and go creeping traffic though so I need to keep her extra happy!
I did Coolant flush at the same time.

Just did my Transfer Case and Power Steering Fluids this week at 35.5K.
Dealership only charged me $230 for Full Synth Oil and Filter, Power Steering and Transfercase service.

I am kind of in your boat with technical know how but also 0 access to tools and a bay or garage so to me that is a pretty fair deal.

My solution has been to show up to my service adviser with pizzas or chick-fil-a for him and his service team. So now we are on first name basis and he is constantly discounting, couponing and working me into the middle of his Saturday appointments. I litterally pull up to a full waiting room and boom my car is next in the bay with the forman himself doing the work.

You would be amazed how a little appreciation for your chosen service center can pay off. I figure they do really good work at a fair price (keeping in mind I cannot do the jobs myself) so I should treat them the way I want them to treat my car

i had a mitsu dealer literally 5 minutes away from my house before they shut down. i would never take my car to a ****subishi dealer for anything.

not only are they incompetent (in terms of evolution) but their goal is to rip you off. why would you give business to an entity that wants to rip you off???

do yourself a favor and find a nice local shop that knows their **** and build rapport. for me, i don't take my car to any shop except KTM (local evo shop where the owner drives a evo x, his workers all drive evo too). just recently took my 08 gsr to get my time chain replaced and i couldn't be happier with the outcome.

just noticed you're from canada. i'm not sure how good/bad mitsu is in canada but i'm pretty sure it's as bad as the states.
