Voltex type 5

I just started researching wings and keep coming back to the Voltex type 5 1700mm. For those that have one, or even the 1500mm for that matter, could you tell a pretty big difference?

Any reviews out there on before and after testing?

Thanks a lot.

i'm running the 1700mm with a 5" splitter. they make a lot of downforce so if you run it without a splitter, like i did for a track day, get ready for the car to understeer everywhere. BTW i have it at the least AOA and the 5" splitter barely balances it out. if you can balance the spoiler with a splitter they make a huge difference in lap times. personally, if you don't care about the cool factor, i would get a APR GT-250.

here's my car from the last track day at Buttonwillow

Ok. I was going to ask if I could run something like the ARP splitter with the lip I have. I have the JDP rallyart style lip.

What about canards? They help? I believe I'll be street class due to the E85 so I'm trying to do everything within the rules of that class to increase performance. No sense not running it if I can. Others will be.

Also what do you do to keep your bumper on? Lol without the lip it's coming loose down the long straight at big willow. About 145. I'm constantly having to put the left side back in. I guess it doesn't help the tab where you screw into the pumper under the fender is torn.

Anybody ever do a writeup on gaining more downforce on an Evo X without a race teams budget? Meaning flat bottom probably out of the question unless they start making them.

I was looking at the Varis canards. They look pretty serious

The APR splitter doesn't do anything. it's too small and flexes too much for it to give you any real downforce. They're great for showcars that want to look fast though

i'm running the Kinexic quick release kit for the front bumper and only using 2 bolts at the top of the bumper so it doesn't flap around to hold the bumper on. i'm not sure if they have release the kit for the evo x yet but here's the link to their site: http://kinexic.com/collections/evo-8...ase-bumper-kit

he splitter i made out of alumilite and its being support by 5 brackets underneath, that i made, and 3 points at the very front that attach to the crash beam with wire. the lip/airdam is riveted onto the bumper and another bracket for the slitter but its not a used to support the splitter, its more there to keep the dam attacked to the bumper so air doesn't get in and add rigidity to the bumper, due to it just being the bumper skin w/o the frame. i basically made everything for $200

Canards help but they add a lot of drag at higher speeds, but you should be fine if you're on e85. if you do end up getting the Varis canards make sure they're the big ones otherwise they wont really work that well. only reason i'm not running canards is because i'm cheap and made some dams that go in front of the wheels, that follow the contour of the front bumper, to block air from getting in. you can kinda see them in this picture:

Not these:

Nobody makes a flat bottom for the evo and if they do its extremely expensive and probably in Europe or Australia. it wouldn't be too hard to make one out of alumilite but then you run into severe cooling problems due to no air cooling of the drivetrain and all the radiant heat from the exhaust.

Lastly, without a flat bottom, rear diffusers are useless. the best thing to do is get some aluminum or alumilite and make a flat "diffuser" to prevent the parachuting effect from air getting trapped behind the rear bumper.

I have seen the alumilite before. Just no good designing and cutting. But it would be cool to do if I could find somebody.

The corrugated openings in the alumilite don't affect anything?

just make as big as rules will allow you.

the corrugating openings doesn't effect anything but you can always put some trim finisher whatever it's called on it. i was going to do that but the one i bought from pepboys ended not being big enough to fit over the edge.
