Just purchased my first Evo!
The dealer told me it wouldn't be ready until Saturday because they're putting a bunch of new parts on it and they still haven't come in yet. They told me they were putting a new windshield, new rotors, all brand new tires, some sensors and a few other things. I hope they don't take out the Injen UICP and intake it has in it to pass MD inspection. Also had a really nice sounding exhaust but it was catless
maybe its just me but from what ive seen from my area everyone that buys a used X seems to have some kind of tranny issues... Just had someone bring one into the shop here that he got 2 months ago from a different dealership, its a 2010 X MR with 32k on it thta has a blown tranny already, had a branded warranty also so thats a 12k fix
Will definitely flush it and put in the red line cocktail. Haven't picked it up yet

That car sounds ragged and like a nightmare waiting to happen. Buy a different one.
Thanks man! will be posting pics as soon as I get it
The windshield may have had a crack or chip. The rotors may have been out of spec. I bought a salvage-titled vehicle once and had to replace all kinds of stuff to pass, in CA . It was nuts.
I thought grinding and notchyness was normal in the Xs? Idk why they are replacing the windshield becuase it was just missing the rear view mirror. Tires were a little worn, and rotors were squealing a little when I test drove it. They ask for a lot of things for inspection here in MD. I have a three day money back guarantee and a 60 day limited warranty that covers all lubricated parts, so that includes tranny and engine
I think you're looking for trouble with this particular car. You might get lucky, but it's not something I would risk. I don't like previously modded cars unless I know who did it and am sure it was done right. In a car that is only 4 years old, you should be able to find unmodded examples that are more worth your money.
Some slight notchiness from a not perfect shift, sure. An actual grind? Heck no. There have been threads of dealerships that have sold previously modded cars and then warranty issues through Mitsu, etc. Rotors squealing is normal, being warped shouldn't be, though.

Well I pick it up Saturday, and I'll flush the tranny and put in the redline cocktail. If that doesn't stop the grinding, I'll take it back and keep looking elsewhere. That was the only thing that worried me. I'll take pics of the engine bay even though it looked almost stock aside from the UICP and intake. Doesn't look like it is heavily modified
if you buy this car, plan to rebuild the transmission asap. if you are okay with that, then you should have no problem owning it.
a car doesn't have to be modded to be abused by the previous owner.

I would have the car inspected by a local shop or a high performance shop near this dealership. Also post any issues onto the sales agreement & have a manager sign off that they are responsible for it.
If you do it after you buy it, you will have a hard time especially if it's already modded.
I would also list any aftermarket components so if you have any issues later on, you'll have the issues documented. Better safe than sorry.
A friendly piece of advice, if the car grinds when you shift, sounds like a bad synchro.

Does "common" = "okay"? I have 125k miles on my IX MR and no issues.
